Cato Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 It's X-21 acrylic. Anyone familiar how to use this? I've tried adding to gloss and semi acrylics to mute them but just get chalky white residue. Apparently it's very critical as to percent of mix. But I haven't found the answer. Can't find anything on line about it's use either.
Modelmartin Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I have used it. You only need to add a little bit - maybe a 1/4 teaspoon per bottle. I would thin it a little after mixing with some isopropyl alcohol. I have had great results with it. I also will mix it with Tamiya clear and then I can flatten anything that I spray it on including decals if needed.
fitforbattle Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I used this last night. (as I ran out of flat black, again... ) I mixed 5 drops of Tamiya x-1 and planned on using 1 drop of flat base, but since it's a base its to thick to drip from a toothpick. So I scraped off a bit on my glass and swirled the two together. Worked like a charm. Only problem was the drying time, it dries kinda quick on the glass coaster I mixed it on and it was hard mixing the same ratio a second time. All and all, if used with caution, it's a really nice product.
