Rusting on a diecast model

Just a quick question, will the salt & water method work on a metal diecast. I have an Old Navy promotional die cast truck I would like to weather & put in a diorama. The model would be rusty, dented & left out behind an Old Navy store.

If you mean will the salt and water actually rust the die-cast metal, then no.

If you mean the technique where you use salt as a "mask" to create random chipping over a rust-colored base coat, then yes.
