Ace-Garageguy
Sorry if this sounds out-of-character sappy for me (no, I'm not) but as difficult and annoying as the past several days have been for a wide variety of reasons, I find it helps to stop and take a conscious break to be thankful for all the little things we take for granted every day. The glass actually IS sometimes only half full, but half a glass is way better than nothing in the glass at all...and even the glass itself is really pretty cool.
A modeler named mike
An non-mentioned Irk turned good.. About 2 months ago we went family graveyard visiting. I noticed that at my great uncle's plot, whom is buried between his two wives, that one of the wives headstone had been bumped/moved 6 inches over onto my uncles flat marker. I made an inquiry and requested that it be moved back into its proper position. After two visits checking the status and two phone calls, the issue had been solved. Crazy that I had to call them in order to get something done that clearly should have been rectified at the time of the incident by the lawn care individual who cause it. Anyway I'm pleased that it's fixed and I can move on to the next issue at hand. Never a dull moment.. but life is still good!
Falcon Ranchero
Though school is over after the 13th, today is technically the last day as today we go to school to do two tests, the rest are online so after today I'm basically done for the week, so that's like 4 weeks of christmas break, instead of the regular 3, and even then elementary and high school only get two weeks. Hoping to find some small part-time job if I can over the break.
Bugatti Fan
Getting the Christmas decorations up at last ! Steve. I hope you enjoyed seeing your grand daughter singing in a choir at York Minster on Friday last. What a lovely setting. It's a wonderful cathedral having visited it in the past. You can only look in awe at the craftsmanship considering how many hundreds of years ago it was built using rudimentary tools.

89AKurt
I finished a model! 🎉 But not a car, it's the old Centuri/Estes Mercury Redstone. I also 'weathered" it, as the moment Alan Shepard became the first American in space. I was also born less than a month later, and wanted this as a kid, so I'm reliving my childhood.
A modeler named mike
This pleasing was from around 4 days ago. I got a email alert that one of the kits I'm currently looking for at a decent price popped up on ebay. When I go to the posting it's described as REVELL 07050 VW T1 SAMBA BUS FLOWER POWER MODEL KIT-NIB-1:24 SCALE, but the posted photo is of REVELL FORD 1913 MODEL T ROADSTER. I contacted the seller with questions, which kit is it actually and is that price still in play if the description is incorrect. He came back that the kit was the SAMBA BUS and yes it was still only $11.97 plus shipping. Even though it's not the kit I'm looking for I couldn't pass it up for the grand total of $24.45. It should be delivered today! Still in search for the REVELL T-1 bus that'll end up as a build of my Great Uncle's old ride.

Falcon Ranchero
Got to take the Arctic Cat out for a little jaunt this afternoon; just around my grandma's as she has open space for that sorta thing. Also, never too old to build a snow man, did the first one of the season today. Once I get a photo I'll add it on here.
Ace-Garageguy
Did laundry, a few errands, cleaned Mr. Spot's box, and hit a couple of hobby places. It's still cold and rainy, so I'm thinking about making a fresh pot of coffee and sitting at the model bench with some Christmas music on just to see if I can remember what it feels like to work on something I don't HAVE to.
Falcon Ranchero
Also went to Walmart earlier today I got the February issue of both Hemmings Classic Car (pretty sure it's the Feb. issue) and Collectible Automobile, as well as a hotwheels 1966 Riviera because why not. Thought of hittin' up the local junk shop to see what vintage kits are left as we haven't been there since May sometime but they're closed on Sunday. Next weekend.
iamsuperdan
Well, this will be a long one. Right now, I'm pleased with how good our local vets are. It's been kind of a scary week here. I've posted her pics here, but Luna is our Husky / Shepherd mix. She turns 6 on the 19th. Has always been healthy, no issues, never had to visit the vet for anything other than her yearly check up and vaccine boosters. That changed big time. Last Sunday, I took our pup out for our daily walk. Was mid-afternoon, and everything was totally normal. Got home, she had a lay down in the living room. Made dinner and fd her at about 5:30. Noticed she was walking funny to come and eat. She ate, and on the way back to the living room, her back end bumped into the table. Then she seemed really clumsy. By 6:30, her back legs were not working at all. It was like her back half was paralyzed. She didn't appear to be in any pain at all, it's just that she couldn't walk or sit or anything. Called our vet's emergency number, and they directed us to a vet in the city. So I got to carry our 95lb pup to the car. Luckily, no one else was there, and we got right in. They came out with a gurney, but Luna was not having any of that, so I got to carry her in. We got into the exam room, and the vet checked her over. No obvious physical issues at all. Reflexes on her back legs were somewhat exaggerated, which was a concern apparently. Did some bloodwork and sat comfortably. Doc says she thinks it might be an enlarged disc in her spine. Common with bigger dogs, requires surgery, but need to CT scan her first. We wait an hour or two for the neurologist to arrive. She comes in, checks everything out, determines it is most likely not the spine/disc thing. But we need an MRI to be sure. They don't have an MRI machine, but another vet ER does. So we decide we have to do this, so they refer us over and tell us to go to that vet ER in the morning. By now, it's about 3:30am. We drive home. I carry her in. And of course, I'm worried, so I just have a quick shower and change and we drive to the other vet ER. Which is of course, on the opposite side. And we're having a snowstorm. An hour or so later, we get to the new vet. Luckily, no one else is there. We carry Luna in, she goes right to a kennel in the back and I wait in an exam room. Doc finishes his morning rounds, then checks Luna over. Comes in, gives me his thoughts, asks if we want to proceed. So she gets admitted and I go home. That afternoon, Luna went under anesthetic, had a spinal fluid test done, then had an MRI. Prognosis is good. Turns out she had something called an FCE. Fibro Cartilaginous Embolism. It was described as a stroke, but in her spine. Some cartilage managed to block a blood vessel in her spine. And luckily, it is cured with time and physio. And I finally slept Monday night. I picked her up Tuesday AM, and she was able to sort of walk in, with the use of a sling. So way better than when I dropped her off. For the past week, I've been carrying her around when she needs to use the bathroom, carrying her go an eat. Exercising her legs, and she's been doing okay. However, I haven't been sleeping much, because I need to take her out a couple of times in the night, and those first couple of nights she was whimpering a lot and needed to be flipped and moved when she was uncomfortable. Which was often. Now she can roll around herself, and can very shakily walk on carpet. She has her first physio appt later this week. And luckily, I work from home most of the time, so I've been able to devote a lot of time to her. Had to cancel a trip to Cheyenne though. Will now be going after the holidays. And luckily, we are doing fine financially, because this has been a very expensive week. So how is this a pleased post? I'm pleased that our pup will eventually recover fully. I'm please with modern veterinary medicine, and the professionalism I experienced with both of the vet ERs we visited. They were excellent to work with. And I hope I never have to set foot in their buildings again!

Bills72sj
I got to take out my StreetMachine today. Spent 11 vacation days, in early November, upgrading and fixing minor things after pulling the dash out of the car. When I put it back in, the car was functional but had a couple of minor tasks to accomplish and some gremlins to chase out. Took care of all of that yesterday. Took it out for both a drive and a (loud) stereo jam session. My new GlowShift gauges work great and I tuned the 9 speaker sound system very precisely via my DSP (Digital Signal Processor). With you eyes closed, you could swear you were listening to a live act without the smell of beer.

Man, that is nice. In other news, I mailed out the last of my Christmas presents, so they're all in the hands of the fine folks at USPS. Everything went priority, so there should be plenty of time...
HomerS
All day Sunday, Bear started yakking up her food and later any water she drank. We ended up at the emergency vet and the X ray showed something in her stomach. Before moving onto the Ultrasound, we followed up with our regular vet. No movement of the merchandise in her stomach in viewing their X rays so back to the ER vet for the Ultrasound. She had surgery this evening and recovering well. (She is around 12 years old but in excellent health). It was expensive and I know I will never be ready to let her go, but she's my baby. Her roommates are stalking me wondering where she is.

Falcon Ranchero
Some two dudes from across the street helped my grandma and her 2007 Kia Spectra get unstuck from her driveway; twice. Coming back from shopping she got stuck and then we pushed her out only for her to get stuck again a little ways up the driveway. Snow's been melting here via rain over the past three days so the driveway is just slush and gravel.

Now I'll be able to see how badly I have been doing on the detailing of my present kit build.

I have cross-overed a few things such as painting. Since I'm here, I tripped over the wire for the ancient launch controller and destroyed it (but didn't fall down 😅), knew Hobby Lobby had one, so now I'm in this century. First launch was the Mercury Redstone's first launch. Since it takes two hands to use the launch controller, I started on the tripod, then picked up after I watched where it apogee happened.
