espo Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Had a big fall on Saturday trying to chip the ice off of the front steps and walkway. I was stepping off of the bottom step of three when I lost my footing and went over backwards hitting my head on the top step and a couple of the others as well going down onto the sidewalk. I don't remember crawling into the garage, but that is where I regained contiguous at the base of the steps into the house from the garage. My wife was having lunch with one of her old coworkers and I had to call her that I had fallen. She called a couple of our neighbors who came over to check on me while she was driving home. That's when I was told I was bleeding from the back of my head and had a bad cut across the back of my head. One neighbor put me in his truck and meet my wife at a local emergency medical center just as it was closing. She then took me to the emergency room at the hospital. Mild concussion and seven staples later I was released and sent home. I'm just now getting my equilibrium back and still have a roaring head ach. The blood on the front steps looks like a crime scene, should keep any "porch pirates" away though. 1

I hope you recoup easily with no further complications. Falling is scary at our age.. rest up buddy.. 1

Glad you're OK. Hard head impacts like that can be...a lot worse. Take is easy for a good while. 1
stavanzer Posted January 13 Posted January 13 David, that's great lick that you weren't hurt any worse. Take it real easy for the next couple days. I'm very glad you're okay now. 1
thatz4u Posted January 13 Posted January 13 snow on the ground...temp in the 20's...looking at the neighbor's tree & a robin came & sat on a limb..started singing...Spring can't get here soon enough 2
Falcon Ranchero Posted January 14 Posted January 14 The weather today; yet again another sunny Tuesday off. Two in a row. The sun's out in full swing now but the morning was pretty calm and quiet. 3
John M. Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Got some food shopping done earlier and will be hunkering down for a snow storm that's coming in early Sunday. 5 to 7 inches is expected. And no school for the little monsters on Monday. (MLK Jr's Birthday) which I'll get holiday pay for. 3
slusher Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Been very happy lately I hope nothing becomes a problem.. 3

Watching the Eagles vs Rams now.. good luck Dave..😉 Hope that fall you had on the 11th hasn't given you any complications and your doing okay.. 🤞

I have been doing great with the vertigo up until this morning. I woke up and was laying on my side and all of a sudden, the room started spinning around. I'm going in on Wed. to see my regular doctor and I'm going to see if they can do another scan of my melon and remove the staples. I'll be watching the game tonight to see who the Chiefs are going to play next weekend. 1
John M. Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I went out earlier to brush off my car after last night's snow storm and a couple of neighbors couldn't get their cars started because of the cold temps. Their cars were much newer than mine but the the trusty Accord successfully jumped started both. Awhile later, one came to my apartment with a large cup of hot chocolate from Dunkins and the other came later with a couple of apple turnovers. I'm just glad to have been there to help them. 5

Gotta watch head injuries, specially when you get vertigo some time later. Take care, rest, heal up. 1
A modeler named mike Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I may be the only idiot that is pleased that the driveway is cleaned up of snow. Dad's old snowblower is dead, which I knew from trying to start it during this past summer. Hand shoveled last night after the storm past, started around 9 o'clock and finished at 1:15 am. Approximately 4 hours worth with two 10 minute breaks to warm up. Today I'll be heading over to the other house (where my wife is still residing) and neighborhood to clean up that property and an elderly ladies property as well. Glad the snowblower over there is operable and the two driveways are only 40 feet long each with approximately 60 plus feet of sidewalk each. Tomorrow I'm not doing Diddy squat that's work related! 4
Old Buckaroo Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) Its only "negative eleven" here this morning, they were calling for colder. My wife even made french toast this morning to pay homage to all the grocery store shoppers buying bread, milk and eggs. 👍 Edited January 20 by Old Buckaroo 2 1
ranma Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) Got a refund from ebay for the "lost" HO scale model. If it does show up here I will ship it back to the seller! Edited January 20 by ranma 2
Falcon Ranchero Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Today was an exceptional day, my day off from school is every Tuesday, sun was out all 3 times so far, but today was a little bit different. Saw the strangest rainbow this morning, straight up and down, and in the centre was almost another sun but less bright. Afternoon went in the bush as there is a gully back there and sled down it for half an hour. Busy day tomorrow though, but today was one of those good days. 3
NitroMarty Posted January 22 Posted January 22 After over 18 months of trying I was finally approved for disability. Gives us some much needed breathing room. 6

Payments defer to five months after the date of becoming disabled. I did splurge a bit and ordered a new cordless Dremel tool.... The truth is that most of the money will go toward catching up on a few things that have gotten behind. 3
Falcon Ranchero Posted January 22 Posted January 22 This far, another awesome day, no sun and snowing, but we did Snowmobile practical this morning, and that was loads of fun. Test drove four different sleds multiple times, just haven’ a blast. The track was a figure 8 but there were nasty bumps in certain areas but it made the rounds more fun. The college has like a bush area for our program so in the middle of the bush there was an open field and that was where the track was. 3

Sounds like you've got an awesome educational system, at least at the college level. 3
