S. Svendsen Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Just finished this restoration of an original AMT '66 Mercury Cyclone 390 GT. You can get the full story and see more pics on my site at the link. http://www.svensworldofwheels.com/66_cyclone_page.html
disabled modeler Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 WOW...! That is the nicest one I have seen so far....excellent work!
Bernard Kron Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Beautifully executed model. Gorgeous. It looks like a period advertising photo. It has that "ideal representation" vibe to it. What do you use as your background and reflective base in your black background shots?
S. Svendsen Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 No engine detail or chassis detail on this one. Like most of my builds, this is just a curbside model.
unclescott58 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Wow! I love Mercury Cyclones. I had the pleasure of getting and building the exect same kit serval year back. I even painted mine red too. But, I went with a matching red interior. And even though mine turned out fairly nice, if looks no where as nice as yours Sven. Scott
Bob Ellis Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Where did you get the chrome wheels? That is a nice touch.
TooOld Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Now that's RED ! I love it , beautiful work Sean !
S. Svendsen Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 Where did you get the chrome wheels? That is a nice touch. They were from the original kit.
bbowser Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Beautiful model. I also like the chrome steelies. They were the wheel of choice if you couldn't afford "mags" back in the day. I bet it was fun foiling the drip moldings! Nice work.
Maxicoop Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Awesome lookin' merc ........ beautifully done, you don't see those very often any more .... thanks for bringing back some great memories of those cars !!!
S. Svendsen Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 Beautifully executed model. Gorgeous. It looks like a period advertising photo. It has that "ideal representation" vibe to it. What do you use as your background and reflective base in your black background shots? I use a piece of black plexiglass on top of a black cloth sweep as a back drop. I then place large white cards in front of the model so they reflect light back into the car.
JTalmage Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Looks really great! I think I have that same kit in the closet unbuilt... one day..
deuces wild Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 That is sweeeeeet.... Love the Michigan plate.. I have one tacked up in my garage..
peekay Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Another beautiful model, Sean. Nobody does cleaner work than you. And I always preferred the 66 to the 67.
twopaws Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Can't decide whether you are a better builder than most or a better photographer than most. OK, the answer is BOTH. Great work.
