How to remove gold coating over chrome ?

My friend asked how to do this & I don't have a clue - he's tried mineral spirits, alcohol, nail poish remover, enamel thinner - all didn't budge it & finally, lacquer thinner ( which killed the chrome ) ...... is there something that really works ? The part he's working with is the gold stuff, from a Monogram Paddy Wagon kit. - thanks

That is gold plating , so you wouldn't be able to find chrome underneath. or I may be wrong .

No, it's tinted chrome.

Here it's called denatured alcohol , I hope it works .
