SlotDaddy1963 Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Hi all, I'm working on a fleet version of the Revell '97 F150 standard cab pick-up. I was wondering a few things about this 1/1 vehicle. 1) Did Ford paint the underside of the cab and bed body color or was there some sort of galvanized coating? 2) where can I find a fleet sales brochure with interior colors and options? Ebay is a LAST resort 3) Does the glove compartment door drop to horizontal or does it only open to expose a box top? Thanks, Chuck
highway Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Chuck, I'd say at least with question 1, it would not matter if it was a fleet vehicle or not, all the F150s should be alike and if I remember correctly, my ex's dad's 97 F150 was painted underneath. Easy way to find out for sure, and I'm not trying to sound like a smart BLEEP, is to look under one either at a car lot or in a parking lot. Second, maybe try a dealership and see if they may just have any old brochures. Another option would be a swap meet or car show where vendors are selling. If you need anything on exterior colors, I did find this nice site: http://paintref.com/paintref/index.shtml
Rign14 Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I had an 86 Ford F150, question 1 is yes they painted it the same as the top, however if they had it undercoated as I did then it would be the color of the undercoat, in my case black, Not sure about question 2, when I need older brochures I go to ebay, as for question 3 it only opened the width of the box. Hope this helps

Fabrux Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Having owned two pickups and an Expedition of this body style, I hope I can offer some insight. 1) Underside of the cab was a sort of grey rust proofing paint. Underside of the bed is body colour. 2) Interior colours available for 1997 were grey, tan, green, blue, and red. The green was the rarest, and may not have actually been offered in pickups. A lot of the folks on an F-150 messageboard didn't believe me there was a green interior until I posted pictures of my Expedition. The green, red, and blue interiors were dropped after a few years, and a few shades of the grey and tan interiors were available as well as black in later years. 3) The glove compartment door indeed only opens for the size of the box. Any further and it would only be able to be opened with no passenger!
