Chris Akers Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 The AMT reissue of the 1977 Ford Mustang has two engine options. One is a V6, the other, a tunnelram equipped V8 of some sorts. Does anyone know which Ford V8 this is, and/or which it resembles? Any help appreciated. CA
Canada Jeff Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 I believe it's a 351 Windsor, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
outsider Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 honestly it looks like a 429-460 based engine. a 351 windsor is nearly identical to a 289-302.
62rebel Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 the v8 is at best a poor representation of no particular engine at all. given the era of the original kit, it's typical of the day. the best v6 would be in the capriII kit of the next year, much cleaner and more prototypical. any smallblock v8 could be used to represent the MII v8, as long as it has either a c4 or MT.
Chris Akers Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 Thank you all. I sold it for 1.00 at the last swap meet. Easy go. I am building my Mustang with a 302. Gracias.
Harold Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I dragged out the kit last night and took a look at it, assembled the block halves and came to the conclusion that it's an FE engine dummied up to look like I don't know what. It has the FE front cover and water pump, and an FE intake will fit perfectly on top. It does have a nice C6, however. And do you think someone would use stock Windsor exhaust manifolds on a drag car? What a mess.
