wdcav Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Kit: AMT 2005 Escalade EXT 2 in 1 Has anyone that built this kit had problems getting the front bumper and grill to stay attached to the truck body? I've tried twice now to get this thing to glue on, but there really isn't much of anything to glue it to that I can see. It's a poor fit in the design as well IMO. Anyone that solved this problem?
RJWood Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Hello wdcav, I have this kit, but have not built it yet. I went to my room and got out the kit, I'm looking at it and your right. it seems like the grill mount area. (the parts that stick up from the bumper) are too wide and keep it from fitting properly. Have you painted it yet? If so, you might want to super glue it to the chassis after you install the chassis. hope this helps. Ron

The rear bumper isn't that grand a fit either, but at least it works. All I have left is the front. That front bumper fit is just poor. I tried to glue the bumper on from the flat piece of the chassis that sticks out, but that didn't have enough contact. I tried to glue it from the corners of the bumpers, but they don't sit well on the body. I finally got it to stay(for now), but it's very tenious. Now I can attach mirrors, roof rack, and running boards. Since you haven't built yours yet, maybe you can hit this problem off better then I did. I knew even before painting from mocking it up, that it was going to be a poor fit, but with everything in its final place, it was worse then I thought. Hope yours turns out good when you build it. Matt
Billy Kingsley Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I built that one...All the pictures I took are ###### though...I will take some more. (I lost the little chrome part that goes on the bottom of the hood, to complete the grill...so if anyone has one to spare I could use it!) I built it when it first came out, and I seem to recall there being some nose fit issues as well. What I did was line it up and use Ambroid Pro Weld to glue it on. I would say attaching it beforehand would be the way to go...I did the entire body and all parts as one unit when I painted it...came out pretty good. I hope to have pictures worth showing soon!!
ucntcme Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I would try the super glue. That is what I mostly use!
