Did you know a 1/8 engine is a lot bigger than a 1/16????

image.jpg1_6.jpg

I am absolutely not building the Pocher F40 engine, I am just ensuring that the parts are there and they fit.

Fun part is they go together like a jigsaw puzzle without cement, so I can pull it apart easily.

Have kinda stalled on the Fujimi F 40.... Just dicking around with exhaust stains.

I should have Alclad my exhaust pipes this afternoon, but I had a nap instead

That's like when I put the 1/12 engine next to my 1/24!

I started another house project so progress on the Lamborghini has slowed. But running up to the hobby shop today to get some supplies, so hopefully when I do get time at the bench I can get lots done.

Ok, waddya think of this

I want to do metal (aluminium) exhaust tips as the plastic ones are cheesy even drilled out...the plastic chips as I try to flare out the ends

So I thought of this arrangement in a bit of a delta pattern

Any opinions??

Can you tell it is a gross rainy day here and I have a hundred things I am supposed to be doing

Ok, Tonight I flared out some aluminum pipe for the middle and one side of the exhaust.

Used trimmed shishkabob skewers as a mandrel that I chucked into the Dremel. Then a dental diamond and polishers to shape.

Flared with more wood skewers tapped in. Here are three pipes on their mandrels and the assorted polishers

image.jpg2_7.jpg
There will be five pipes total...should look kinda cool. Might even torch them with heat to see if I can patina the aluminum.....or melt it and wreck everything.

I know it is not Ferrari spec and deviates from gas monkey guys

Let me know what you think, I am going to bed

If you're doing a custom F40, do a custom F40. I think it looks cool!

Thanks man, we shall see if I can make it fly

Scott, when I started this there was no end date due to the complexity of some of these kits. Just letting ya know. I have no forward progress on my build ,have had a few health issues the past couple of months. Keep up the good work. bigtim.

Did a little F40 work, got the five pipe tips done

image.jpg4_2.jpg

Mock up into rear splitter to test fit

image.jpg1_17.jpg

image.jpg3_5.jpg

I have been working my way through this horrible gum to get to its wrapper that will make a great heat shield for the inside of the splitter......one more stick to go

Looking sweet! Good to see some progress in this thread. :-)

Thanks Ryan

Been feeling a little guilty looking at that big Fujimi box and not moving forward on it

I am going to test paint some spoons today for a try out some body paint and primers

Hey Scott.......no need to eat bad tasting gum to get the foil. Look online at Michael's or just Google Fancy Foil......comes in a roll that would last a modeler a lifetime! Costs like $10.00 U.S.

I was just being silly, all a bit tongue in cheek.....but it is perfect for the application.

I could have just tossed the gum out

Will have to go see Michaels for that foil and for the braided cord in the beading section someone mentioned elsewhere

Don't know if "fancy foil" is what i got but I picked up a roll of foil used as a base for cakes. Think of a roll of Christmas wrapping paper amout of foil!

Yep Ryan that sounds like the stuff!

No worries.

I'll be in a watch only mode as I get to be away for the whole month of June training for work. I was going to bring a Gundam model to snap together at the hotel but I just got a message from the seller that the label fell off and they got it back. They sent it right back out but it won't be here in time. Maybe I'll find a well stocked hobby shop nearby!

Hi gents, just checking in on the Fujimi Crew

We have settled into rental house and I have a shared spare bedroom for modelling and wife's office.

The only model damage to the move was on the F40, the styrene supports for the turbo inlets. So I did some brass pins and used aluminum tubes to replace them

image.jpg2_11.jpg

I also made some red gaskets for the headers to close the gaps and look cool

image.jpg1_24.jpg

image.jpg1_23.jpg

will try to get moving on this and stop showing the same photos of barely any progress
