raildogg Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 My question is, how do they work?.Well more to the point, when they are on the tractor and before it is ready to lift the trailer section, how is it lowered to the level of the trailers lifting pins? I know, hydraulically but, how in general. This has always bugged me. I am getting ready to build a Rodgers style lowboy and I'm curious. Comments

cappy625 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 hello Richard I pulled a rogers years ago and one of the things I remember about that trailer was it had a small engine on it we called a pony motor. and it sat between the two main frame rails on the gooseneck the motor would run the hydraulics and their were two locking pins where the gooseneck would meet the trailer. once you lifted the trailer with the rams you would remove the locking pins then lower the trailer. those pins were the only thing holding the gooseneck to the trailer. the company I work for traded those rogers in for talberts around 7 or 8 years ago. so if you change your mind and want to build a talbert I can get you all the pictures you want. in fact I posted some pictures of the trailer I pull in the 1:1 section on this forum around 2 or 3 years ago. they are under detachable gooseneck.
