Dirty Dave Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Just a beater '57 Beetle with 17"-ish wheels from Revell's '41 Chevrolet Pickup.
Ford guy Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Awesome build Dave! The patina looks great. Love it.
DeeCee Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 GREAT job on the patina mate, looks awesome.
seeker589 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Rusty Flugelhorn!? I see what you did there! That takes some brass! Love the build. Thanks for sharing.
Dirty Dave Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Like the bug, but not the wheels. I get that. If I was going to build a bug in 1:1, I'd run something more vintage. Since I wanted to build a model to look like many current bugs I see in my Tumblr feed, I went with the bigger wheels that look similar in style to the vintage EMPI/BRM's.
Atmobil Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Nice one, I know of 1:1 bugs that look just like this
Dirty Dave Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Nice job. Somehow, the wheels work! Thanks. I think swapping out the front tires for a pair from the Revell Tuner series Integra helped a whole lot - and they fit like they were made for these wheels.
Chuck Most Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I love it! I always hated the way those wheels looked all chrome, but the paint detailing you did improves them 100%. Might have to give that a try.
Dirty Dave Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) Thanks! The lower profile tires in the front didn't hurt, either. Edited February 19, 2015 by Dirty Dave
