realgone58 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Just got one of these that I won off ebay from Southern Motorsport Hobbies. While it's a pretty nice casting, the beltline contour of the body sides is missing over the wheel wells. Mostly so on the driver's side as you can see in my pic. I've included a pic of my original JoHan 2 door promo wheel well to show the difference. I know that Ratnasty is producing one as well, and wondered if anyone who has his can compare it to this one. I'd like to have my correct. I am not bashing anyone here, and if it were going to be a drag car replica, I wouldn't mind. But it's going to be built stock, and I'd like it as good as I can get it.
VERNON Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Hello Alan...I think this may be one of Chucks (ratnasty) bodies. His body is based on the four door Maverick prostock Gapp & Roush raced in the mid seventies. I've bought quite a few bodies from SMH and believe they are selling his resins. Everything has been excellent quality and I've been very happy with all their resins.. If you look real closely I think he's enlarged the wheel opening to represent the race car. An option you may consider is adding a little plastic tubing (I prefer Evergreen) to the wheel opening and reshape it just a little. Hopefully you'll get more responses to your request, this has me curious.as well. Happy Modeling and good luck with your project. Vernon
realgone58 Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 So this is actually one of Chuck's bodies? Here is a shot of the passenger side. It's a little better on this side.
VERNON Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I'm thinking it is as some of the bodies I've bought from SMH were subjects he offers and I bought direct from him as well. Hopefully Chuck will see this and give us some help. I'm very curious myself.
