Impalow
I have always been enamored with the 60's Showcars... So I thought I would give it a shot. Using the Kosmik Outcast as partial inspiration.... thinking something like this, but with fenders. Im gonna buzz threw what I have been up to the last month so i can start giving you guys regular updates here is the start: Using a 1962 Thunderbird, Lil Coffin and (2) 1950 F-1 kits as donors. Rough Mockup added about 1/2" of width to the fenders, T-Bird bed and smoothed firewall: Body to bed attachment: Sculpted upper door: Roughing in the 51 Style grille opening and chopping the top: Stressfull removal of bulkhead: Edited April 2, 2015 by Impalow
1930fordpickup
I like the way you think. You need to bring this to the NNL Nationals in Slyvania next October.

Dirty Dave
Nice work! The counter-wound coil springs, finned brakes and Q-C really make for a nice rear end. I look forward to seeing what kind of grille treatment you have in store for us.
James2
Hello Eric, I like what you have going here, great scratch building, or as I like to say "Imagineering" I like me some 60's show rods too! I built this one a few years ago.

Impalow
Thanks for all the kind words guys!!! This has been a very fun build so far. I have a few grille options in my head, just have to see what strikes me as the body work progresses. James2, how guilty did you feel cutting up that tbird? I know I still do, it was the nicest kit of the bunch.. Haha.. I love your final product!
Impalow
Here's a look at last nights progress, I got most of the chassis fabrication done so I can start on the interior tub. This is the first chassis I've built from scratch, quite rewarding knowing the only "kit" parts are the front and rear axles.
Impalow
Got some time to start on the interior tub tonight.

Impalow
Thank you guys! Really enjoying this forum, and this build. Rob, I have been eyeing that 2015 cannonball community build thread, my kit is on the way so i can join the fun. Heres a quick update, got everything fitted, and the interior tub almost done. Still lots of cleanup work to do, but so far i am happy with the result. Edited January 16, 2015 by Impalow

crazyrichard
just absolutly love it !! sooo cool i have one thing , not ment offensive .. the front fenders - front end is soo wide .. in a way it is much bulkyer and wider in the front then in the rear and tbh its always nicer the other way around .. is it possible to downscale the front clip = like make it so its just a tad more narrow then the rear and alos try to make it less bulky .. maybe even narrow the front axle a bit so the front track is less wide then the rear .. that gives it that perfect shape again jus a enthousiastic comment .. loving this Edited January 17, 2015 by crazyrichard

I have noticed this myself, it seems really bad from some angles, and not so bad from others.. I have a couple ideas on how to visually minimize the frontend once I get back into the body work. But if they don't work I have a feeling I may be reworking the axle like you have suggested. The original idea of making the front wider was to have something that looked like a 1951 grille opening with wide body flares. I think I have that look nailed, It is just not meshing with the rear because once fenders were molded into the "bed" they lost their visual depth... Thank you again for your feedback and suggestions.
