Impalow Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 Got into the intake manifold and carb mounting tonight.. Pretty happy with the result.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Lots of clean looking mods and fabrication going on here. Reminds me of a John Teresi project or two, and that's a good thing. You seem to have an eye for symmetry too, which is somewhat unusual. Edited March 5, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
afx Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I'm not a big fan of customs but I have been following this thread from the beginning. I agree with Bill you are doing some very nice fabrication work Eric. I really like the remote pulley setup on the blower. Is this a kit part or did you fabricate it?

I really like the remote pulley setup on the blower. Is this a kit part or did you fabricate it? Thats actually the blower from the AMT/Blueprinter Parts Pack... I think the one from the hemi. That pulley is the tensioner, i just cut it off the molded belt. I ordered up some aluminum pulleys for the blower and accessory drives yesterday, i am hoping to be able to keep that tensioner pully. We shall see when they arrive.
blunc Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I agree with the opinions regarding the windshield, with all the other curves you've added to the body the flat windshield seems out of place.
Jantrix Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I'm left wondering. Why the wicked angle of the engine? Don't carbs have to be somewhere close to level?
Impalow Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 I'm left wondering. Why the wicked angle of the engine? Don't carbs have to be somewhere close to level? yeah.. im going to fix that. I wanted the drama of it being slightly angled, but once the carbs and blower were up there.. it was way too much. My plan is to have the engine pretty level with the ground when the trucks stance is correct. Just need to modify the motor mounts and oilpan a bit.

Thanks mike! Im trying to think of something unique to dress this area up a bit... and make it work better with the overall design.
crazyrichard Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 just stunning and yes with the engine levelled it would look better .. just soo cool ......
Impalow Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) just stunning and yes with the engine levelled it would look better .. just soo cool ...... Thanks Rich! Dropped it down some last night, might need to go a smigen more.. but even what I did helped. I had a few hours last night exploring windshield shapes on my sketchpad... havent settled on anything yet... The drawing below looks neat, but makes it too modern looking. Still working it out, luckally there are lots of other things to do.. Edited March 7, 2015 by Impalow
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Cool. Nice drawing. Are you planning lime green for the paint?
Impalow Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 Cool. Nice drawing. Are you planning lime green for the paint? Thank you! Yeah thats the plan... Ive stockpiled a lot of this
blunc Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 would it matter if I mentioned that the carbs are on backwards?
Impalow Posted March 8, 2015 Author Posted March 8, 2015 would it matter if I mentioned that the carbs are on backwards? That would be a huge help... Thank you.. Luckily I haven't made or mounted the fuel block yet.. So it's just as easy as spinning them around.. Thank you again!
misterNNL Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Great that you have the talent and ability to superimpose your drawing over you photo to share the ultimate vision you have!I really like the peaked hood extension you added. That really compensates for the bluntness of the grille design drawing the eye up to the peak.Over all a very inspiring project and a lot of fun to follow.
72 Charger Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Cool drawing and like Tom said your design is great with the hood peak. Colour will be just right for it . As for the windscreen had you thought about small Aero screens?
cobraman Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Just came across this build. I love it ! You are doing some fine custom work here.
Impalow Posted March 16, 2015 Author Posted March 16, 2015 Thank you, for the kind words guys! Dave, I have some crazy idea using a 60's boat style windshield.. just need to see if it works with the truck. Here is a quick update from the past week, I have been busy but not as productive as I would like. The headers were dream killers for awhile, I think I made about 8 total out of different materials before I finally settled on ones that worked and looked decent. Drilled out the carbs and mocked up some .014 fishing line to simulate the clear red fuelline. (they are still backwards here, but i have remedied that... Thanks again Mike.. that would have driven me crazy down the road) Now onto the headers... enjoy my nightmares... haha The outlets look off a bit here, but ive corrected that... the plan is to make small dump pipes that exit out the fenders.
dino246gt Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 How about cutting off the windshield frame, smoothing out the cowl and adding a Duvall? Way earlier style but it MIGHT look cool? Or something like a '57 T-Bird windshield and frame?
crazyrichard Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 stunning work .. oh and i love the windshield sketch .. i think it looks great
