Roadrunner Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Just curious, why does a 1:16 Peterbilt or Kenworth that is 1-1/2 times larger than 1:24 scale, cost 3 times as much?
fantacmet Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 It's not just amount of plastic and engineering costs to consider. It's volume. Much lower volume of sales means higher price.
Roadrunner Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 That makes sense. The kits do seem to be better and more comprehensively detailed, and all that additional tooling costs money.
Madd Trucker Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I was suprized at that as well condidering that kit and the Pete was reissused kits
Roadrunner Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) Another dilemma. This time this AMT White Freightliner. Same scale as the Revell 359 and W900, but about $12 more expensive. What gives? Edited March 9, 2015 by Roadrunner
Superpeterbilt Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Another dilemma. This time this AMT White Freightliner. Same scale as the Revell 359 and W900, but about $12 more expensive. What gives? The revell kits are snap together, and not even close in detail to the Freightliner. The wheels, suspension, frame, etc are toy like compared to the detail of the Freightliner. They are different skill levels.
Roadrunner Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 OK, Terry, thanks. I just went ahead and ordered the Freightliner, my first COE.
