One of my "If-I-win-the-lottery-I'm-going-to-build-one-of-these" cars.

Black, red interior, single four barrel 440, four speed, Tor-Q-Thrust wheels...

The car is set up for an auto so that's gotta go. The supplied 383 is an auto and has the starter on the wrong side, so modifying it is out.

I've got a 426 Max Wedge out of a '49 Merc kit, but it too has the starter on the wrong side, and I don't plan on using the dual four set-up on that the Max Wedge has.

Found a 440 Six Pak engine in my parts box, with a four speed. The single four intake from the 383 fits, as does the much better timing cover/water pump set-up. The 440 is a drop in, same length and height as the 383. The 426 is shorter.

The 440 looks to actually be a big block Chev engine with Mopar heads and intake but it should work just fine.

The Max Wedge exhaust manifolds will look right at home on the 440. :),

The kit comes with a quad headlamp Polara grill, the 330 model has single lamps, but what the hey... it should look fine.

Don't worry about the grille - 330s had four headlamps from the factory like the Polara and 440. The two-light grille was a racing modification.

Great project, I had no idea it had the quad light grill with it. I've been passing them up on the great auction site because I was wanting the 330 I build to have 4 headlights.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours.

Slowly working my way through...

Modified the intake to look more Mopar-ish, built a coil, fuel line, return spring, alternator brackets and accelerator cable. Drilled for heater hoses, added the distributor and wired it up. Goofed on the firing order slightly, so it may run with a bit of a miss. :)

Drilled out the homemade vacuum advance unit for a hose but my eyes gave up early today.

I couldn't find an air breather that looked right so I'm modifying the one in the foreground. I think it's from a '56 Ford?

Most of the chassis is done, but I didn't think to take any pics.

Got the interior blacked out in base coat, waiting for some foil to finish it out. Black embossing powder looks almost real. :)

Modded a dual snorkel air breather - think it's from a Pontiac? - that looks like it might belong there. Opened up the snorkels a bit too...

Mocked everything up and found the engine can't go in before the body is assembled to the chassis - the Super Stock manifolds make it too wide. The rad support panel needs to go on after the engine is in place too. Not a big deal, but fitting it all together is a bit tricky.

Got some colour on yesterday.

Single layer Sikkens U-Tech black.

Couple little dust nibs to polish out but it looks good.

Your build is looking really nice, love the big block wedge. If you hav'nt already, check out Bob Mosher's " Mosher Muscle Car Motors" web site for some excellent early 60's Mopar inspiration. I have a 330 posted in my Photo Bucket "jdcar32" library. I used the stock seats, wheels, tires, caps, from the Dodge Little Red Wagon kit because the stock 330 had not been released when I built mine. Looking forward to seeing your's completed !

Very nice, Bill!

I changed direction a little - now has a black interior. Making up some seat belts for it today, then the interior can go together.

Waiting a week or so before polishing it out... U-Tech cures fairly slow.
