evilone Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 nah man do some metallic black it'll look killer than oh and put an SOHC in it and close the open hole in the hood
promoman Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Let me know how you get the front clip to line up with the cowl. I built the same kit and I could not get them to line up, I display the model with the front flipped. I built mine in red oxide primer with rims painted red with wide white walls and small 47-48 Ford hubcaps. I also did the bed to look like wood. also shaved the door handles and use 59 Caddy taillights and a different grill with canted headlamps.
evilone Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 vary nice bro someone acually used my idea hell must have frozen over now
MikeMc Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 BRRGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! did I spell that correctly? Actually I love this body style both PU and Panel!! They can hold most any motor/trans/induction you want, plenty of room for tires and wheels, and always looks great chopped, channeled and slammed!!
MikeMc Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 nah man do some metallic black it'll look killer than oh and put an SOHC in it and close the open hole in the hood Heres the SOHC..... No Hole....
evilone Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 agreed they have a huge space in the engine compartment and do look sweet chopped, channeled, and slammed
Clay Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 Well here is what I got so far, The body has been painted, it has som rough spots but i think they can be fixed
Junkman Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I remember struggling with this kit when I was a kid - my mom gave it to me for X-mas. Your's looks nice. Very nice indeed, sir.
Clay Posted February 17, 2008 Author Posted February 17, 2008 Well I did some work on the engine, And did a quick mock up More to come later
rollinoldskoo Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 that was one of the first kits i built also... painted it testors gloss black.... didn't come out ANYWHERE near as nice as yours is coming out.... fun kit...... as far as the closed hood comments.... AMT has a more stock version of this kit also.... i like it a lot more because it has LOADS of optional parts including complete extra motor than in itself has options too
Clay Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Well I decided to try and add some more detail to this either gonna be green metallic flake or Purple metal flake. I broke one of the traction bars while trying to get it off the tree, but i saved it.
Darrell Gwinn Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 That has to be one of my favorite colors! My cousin and I built this kit back when we were younger and it was a metallic purple color and saphire blue.. it was also 75% glue by the time we were done... haha those were the days..

I broke one of the traction bars while trying to get it off the tree, but i saved it. i'm planning the same two-tone break for my 53 ford also
Clay Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 (edited) I just got the nozzles out and cleaned them and let them dry, then I shot some purple metal flake on the unmasked area Edited February 19, 2008 by jones_clayton
Clay Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 I thought editing the previous post would make it a recent post, any way scroll up for the update.
evilone Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 uh i think i just had an accident LOL ya i did LOL nice 2 tone are you going to put a pin strip to brake up the 2 colors
Clay Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 I dont know if I am that talented yet to do that
Raul_Perez Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Clay, You might try something like an orange pinstripe to highlight the colors you're using. What do you think? You should be able to find orange pinstriping tape at the local auto store. 1/16" would work well. You would probably have to clear over it to keep in in place on the curves. Regards,

Regards, That would be awesome, would Future hold it down? And can I apply it with a foam paint brush?

Clay, I'm glad that you liked the suggestion. I don't know how well Future would work...I don't use it. Maybe someone else on the board can help you there...

But it will have to wait til tomorrow or later on tonight because my eyes hurt, went to the eye doctor today...
Clay Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 Ok I got to wait on the pin strip because Autozon only had 1/8 inch, I am gonna go to Advance Auto Parts today and see. But I did a mock up again and I will hopefully finish the chassis and interior tonight. I'm thinking about adding some Jade Green to the bottom because the bed looks lonely with just one color. What do you guys think?
Raul_Perez Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Clay, If you have a clean sheet of glass and a straight-edge you can cut the stripe tape to any width you need. I've done it several times to get the size I want. I'd pass on the green. To many colors can make it too busy looking. Regards,
