Simon Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Hi folks, a few shots from the bench. This is a '64 Impala I'm building for my mate as a surprise. I had this in mind as soon as I saw the wheels in the 3-in-1 Boss 429 kit. The wheels aren't really my cup of tea, but it's the sort of thing my mate really likes so I'm hoping he will dig it!
camaroman Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 simon can't wait to see this finished. The 64's have a special place in my heart. I learned to drive on a 2 door hardtop that belonged to my Pop! When he was through with it he gave it to me. I recently passed it on to my youngest son!!!
Simon Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 Glenn, that's a really nice story, thanks for sharing. Your son is lucky to have a 64 Chevy! This is my second 64 Impala build, I like this kit a lot. Might try a '63 one day, too.
rollinoldskoo Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 as long as u get the revell 63 impala, you'll be just as pleased with the kit
evilone Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 ipalas look nice altough i like to see them as lowriders see

evilone Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 YOU HAVE TO BE JOKING BRO WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU THEY LOOK BAD ASS AS A LOWRIDER CRUSE TO CALI AND SEE FOR YOURSELF
Darrell Gwinn Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Its the same as taking an American flag and turning it into a table cloth, those old Impalas are Americana and look better stock or atleast with regular sized wheels, not big ole 22s or little ole daytons or whatever plus theyre more valuable original. if you want to make a lowrider use something from the late 70s into the 80s
Albert Wallace Jr. Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I've always like them...Here's some of my old builts... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Albert
evilone Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 man you guys have to live in cali to see what i mean

evilone Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 man tell me your not from the south or somewhere from redneck vill any impala is a good lowrider especilally th 6 4
Darrell Gwinn Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 evilone said: man tell me your not from the south or somewhere from redneck vill any impala is a good lowrider especilally th 6 4 Im from Iowa and we're only a state and a lake away from Detroit and we take pride in our American muscle. I mean some cars are good lowriders, but some dont need to take a trip south of the border.
evilone Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 man im from cali any impala is a good lowrider and we respect the muscle cars too but in a different way go get a lowrider mag youll see the respect its a tight nit family to be in and once your in its a cake walk so dont disrespect the fact that we lowrider out the impalas and i wont disrespect that you hot rod them
Darrell Gwinn Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I dont disrespect anything here, what Im saying that some of those Impalas started life as well optioned, high horse muscle cars, then instead of being restored to full potential, they end up that way. I mean just go find a biscayne and turn it into a lowrider and just get all the badging so you can say its an impala. Plus these cars were meant to be hot rodded, the point is how fast can you go, not how high you can hop. Im sure youd have to be crankin some R's to get in impala on 13"s to get up to speed without changing the gears.

evilone Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 cool its like a famouse person said every one has his own flavor ill tell you this the only impala i will restore is a 64 droptop ss due to the fact i can get a mint for it but thats the only one
Darrell Gwinn Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Im not saying that people cant do their own thing, im just saying that there are so many that have become lowriders that would have been some of the best if back to original. Plus it isnt really doin your own thing if everyone, their brother, and cousin has an impala lowrider... ha its time to find something different. look at rollinoldskoo's lowrider projects, he's one of my favorite builders on here and he does things like that 82 malibu wagon and now that grand prix, its different and id love to see them as lowriders in real life. its kind of like the trend of turning a fox body mustang into a drag car, now you can hardly ever find a street one cause theyre all 10.5 drag cars now! it gets old
evilone Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 true true true but theres always that one mod or that one paint job that seperates you from all the other boys and girls hence why i stick to lowriding pick ups
Darrell Gwinn Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Yea, i guess i like performance over looks, thats why i like muscle cars over lowriders but the respect is all the same. speakin of respect, we probably disrespected Simon for hijacking his thread for our Impala discussion! Whoops..
rollinoldskoo Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 evilone said: man tell me your not from the south or somewhere from redneck vill any impala is a good lowrider especilally th 6 4 i didn't invite you to come over to this forum and behave like this..... i love lowriders...... BUT i'd rather see a stock or mild hotrodded 64 than one that is done backyard and torn apart.... a lot of the street riders tear their cars apart and toss them aside.... whats good in that? that IS a waste of american metal.....
Clay Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I think Dirk has a right to like restored muscle cars, and i think evilone has a right to like slammed cars, Myself, I have to agree with Dirk, I cant stand to see classics dropped so they can hope up and down, or raised to fit 24" rims under neath them, But I am all for customizing them for more power I.E a bigger engine and whatnot, Just thought I would type what I felt. And Simon, awesome builds, and I too apologize for going off subject.
Cornpatch Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Gentlemen Everybody has a right to there own opinon of what they do and don't like about cars. It is not worth getting into an arguement here on the forum. This is not that other model car magazine forum, if you want to post argumentive theads go over there and do it, there will be a lot of people that will argue with you. But we, and I am sure a lot of the other forum members will agree, dont want that BS here. Everybody has an opinon and if somebody disagrees with you you dont have to start an all out argument, suck it up and say, you have your opinon and I have mine---- and leave it at that. Jeff

Jeff You're right, but this was more of a heated descussion than an arguement. In the end there were no hard feelings!
