  1. A sneak peek at what I'm working on and hoping to finish over this holiday week. It's a rescue that I started way back in '05 and it's on its third coat of paint. First gloss red, purple bath, then cranberry red, purple bath, then a really good sanding down and now finally this shade that I think is close to the atomic orange on the box art. The pic shows it after a few days drying time with no sanding or polish since I still have a couple of spots to touch up. It really has too much sparkle in it for my taste but the one coat laquer went down so well in this cold/wet weather that I think I'm going to go with it. I'll try to post before and after pics but the only trouble spot so far is that the hood rides too high and I'll need to sand the sides down slightly to allow it to slide down and meet the nose piece. One plus is that the targa top fits great and another is that the engraving is still going strong after all the color changes. I'm just your average modeler so this is going to be an out-of-box build only.
  2. I don't have a reference pic to show (it was years ago) but I got a pretty good maroon color by spraying several coats of testors candy-apple red over a medium gray primer.
  3. Hi, I'm back into scale modelling after a long long time. Heck, kits that I built as a kid intimidate me today! I do mostly automotive but venture into aircraft every now and then. Looking forward to being able to contribute some to this great forum...
