When using adhesive tape for racing harnesses...

Recommended Posts

I pull the tape through the slot in the hardware and fold it over. I then stick it on a piece of wax paper and brush paint the tape(topside) the color I want my belt. After it dries, I stick the belt and hardware on the seat and put a SMALL dot of epoxy glue underneath the hardware and also on the end of the belt which usually can't be seen. I find this method works pretty good for me without getting too finicky.

I fold the tape over onto itself and cut it to width. It gives it a little more scale thickness and I can position it however I want. To add the hardware, I slip it through, fold it and glue with crazy glue. I paint it with whatever I want or have.

These were painted with acrylic flat black. I've also painted them with Dupli Color lacquer to match the interior.

Thanks for all the additional feedback, guys.

John - I've tried Sharpie and, though I like the idea of it, it seemed to rub off if handled very much. Maybe that speaks more to my assembly techniques than to the marker itself. LOL I'll have to give it another try.

I like your Fairlane, Roger.

Feel free to post up pics, Chris...

Thanks for letting me know about what paint you use, Nick.
