  1. Just tried to add some pics of my 57 and it said files were too large. I couldn't even upload one???? I don't use anything other than Kodak Easyshare and that is pretty standard I thought??? Help? Thanks Rob D
  2. Here is a replica of my Dad's 57 Chevy he had when he returned from Vietnam and met my Mom in August 1968. It had a 61 Chevy steering wheel (which I had to make,astro-slotted mags I had to drill out because he didn't use the centerpieces on his, and a 4 barrell GM quadra jet on the 283.

Very nice! I love it. I just finished the identical AMT kit and believe it or not did the exact same thing you did - gave it to my Dad for Father's day. I noticed that yours had 2 optional sport mirrors while the one Dad had only had one on the driver's side. I just got on here to put up the pics of mine. What a coincidence.
  4. The glass is too narrow for the opening. I am about 70% finished, already painted, decalled, and clear coated the body. Is acetate bendable and maleable? Nearest hoby shop is 35 miles away. Can you order this stuff on line anywhere?
  5. The rear window is too small/ narrow for the frame. Anyone know how to correct this problem without making a mess? Also, is there anyway to remove glue from the window once it is on there? I have tons of spare parts, but not much glass to work with. I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks, RD
  6. Incredible!! That is one bang up job - I don't see how you guys get that chrome so sharp. I'm gonna have to break down and experiment with that foil. Paint just doesn't compare to what I've seen on here.
  7. That chrome job is probably the best I've seen on anything. Great job! What is your secret??? I picked up that kit about a month ago, but haven't started it yet.
  8. I have masked and hand painted chrome for years, but a lot of the pics I've seen on here in a short time appear to use something instead of silver chrome paint as they are a lot shinier and even more sharply cut than I can get with tape and a fine point brush. Anybody have any advice on what the secret/ trick of the trade is? I seen a few references to "foil" but am not sure exactly what that is or where to get it. Thanks RD
  9. Just curious. Has anyone built this one yet? I wonder if it is as poor as the hardtop Revell has put out many times before? I really like the AMT and Monogram 57 Chevys personally.
  10. Ifeel your pain. I just built an AMT 55 Sedan and had to use clothes pins as clamps to cement the frame assembly to the floor board b/c the frame was whopper-jawed. It worked. I'm like you though in that 7 of 10 I've built over the years there is always one little blemish that drives me batty. I got a little tiny glue smudge on the passenger wing window and it seems to stand out like a sore thumb to me. I guess its all in the fun:)
  11. It is robdonaldson@roadrunner.com Don't really want a stock look totally for this one, just some replacement tires for the junky glue-togethers that Revell used to specialize in a few years back to fit the custom wheels included with the original. And thinking ahead, there is also a 55 and 57 Chevy in the same kit (it was a 3 pack) so if you could come up with 12 total I'll buy them all for a reasonable rate. I used to hate Revell as a kid and those tires reminded me why:)
  12. Yeah, I saw that kit on the shelf the other day and opted for the 60 Starliner instead. Definitely one I want to build in the future, but I'm going with the 348 or 409, not sure which it is, included with the kit since I don't have the stock hubs or steering wheel to go along. I built a Monogram stock 53 several years back and used the straight 6 and hubs on that one that would have been compatible. I'm just trying to keep this as stock-looking as I can with what was included.
  13. Thanks Shane. I'd surely appreciate the pics. If you don't mind, test fit them with the wheels that came with the kit to ensure a tight fit. I'll gladly reimburse you for them if you happen to have some that fit. I'll also check out the site you mentioned as I currently have everything primed and ready to paint interior-wise minus the dash. Took some pics last night that I'll put up on Workbench section of the site as soon as I can my better half to take them off her camera.
  14. Yes it is the black 2-door post with very few stock options. Do you know if the 210 had carpet like the Bel-Aire? I finally found a color scheme for black on black, but can't find a photo of the rear window deck behind the passenger seat. The head liner was red to match the red 2 tone door liners and the rear seat with the checkered vinyl was solid black. My gut says go with black too to match the seat, but I still won't swear the rear deck was not red to match the head liner? Do you know? Thanks again, Rob D
  15. Thanks Mike, The kit wouldn't allow me to build it totally stock and the only wheels I have are the 8-hole chrome deep dish mags that came with the kit. I really like them, so I want to use those so the tires I would need would need to be the same or close to the diameter as the junky glue together 2-peice jobs that came with it. I do have a lot of parts, but I was and still am really an AMT guy who does an occassional Monogram and not really up on Revell or anything really recently. I did buy the new AMT 60 Ford Starliner over Christmas though and I am really love the wheel choices with that one. AMT has even gone back to the old-style white walls of yesteryear as opposed to the old 70s and 80s standard Firestones and Goodyears. If you have anything like that let me know and I'll be glad to buy them off you for a reasonable price. I already love this site. Thanks RD
