Rennsport Reunion Iii-porsche Event!

Recommended Posts

OK, I'm already at home trying to get things back to normal in my head after a dream weekend. Everything was like I tried to explain it would be in the other post I started. Enter to the Daytona track, like a good friend of me here in Puerto Rico told me, its a show for itself. It was so impressive had at first sight the 911 GTR's Porsches taking the banking at 180+ MPH. The amount of Porshces was unbelievable, I can tell that nearly the 95% of Porsches ever produced were there. You could find almost any example of Porsche, either track or street. Something that really freaked me out, was the "Library" of Porsche and racing subjects you could find there. Also a great selection of racing DVD's and models, specially 1/43 and 1/32.

About the model show, it can be told that was like the 1:1 couterpart. You guys have to notice that it was the first ever Porsche model car show, and, that was only for Racing subject matter. There was even a 1:1 Scale Porsche 917k right in the middle section on the contest room. One of the highlights(at least for me) of the show, was finally meet Bob Downe and Ken Mouton. Man, what a pair of excellent modelers and better persons. I could see some of their great creatons that untill last saturday I had only see here in this forum(in the case of Bob) and in the magazines(in the case of Ken).

The selection of racing modes was exquisite and amazing. I was surprised for the huge amount of big scale models and their great quality. Another thing I liked a lot was the Silvertone display by the ACME club from Atlanta and the other IROC 911 Porsches display also displayed by them. My respects to Mr. Henry Trent, coordinator of the event, and to everyone in charge of such event, you guys did a magnificent event...Bravo!!!

In my personal job, I was lucky enough to bring home 3 awards. They just only offered best in class awards in the NNL format on each class. I took the 1982-present with my Modeler's Porsche GT-1, Best Small class, and the huge surprise of the Best of Show award with the same Profil 24 1/43 Porsche 962C which it progress I had been posting here.

Here are a couple of the almost 300 pictures I took. Enjoy it!!!

Congratzz :D Great photos and most of all that I liked

was the peoples reaction to the models....Im. sure that

the real cars are unreal and the souds and smell, you can't

beat it, but there is something magical when you can duplicate

to almost perfection and sometimes better the look of the 1:1

counterpart. and that is why every car show should have a model show like this.

It is the same dedication, and passion you get when you restore this pieces of

racing history.

Will like to see your 956 up close and I wanted to go there but decided

to go to Sebring to the historical races at the end of this month insted

only if I knew.

I live in Florida, West Palm Beach...so is just a 3 hour drive...next year.

Gracias, por representarnos boriqua, y continua tu conquista.

PS, The guy covering his face.......been there, but worst i was with the wife.

Well, I don't know exactly, but, if you count all the race cars, the ones at the outside in the grass, that attendants, and PCA cars at the back of the track, I can say that it could be around 500+ in total...plus if you add the models! I have to check a post from Bob, but, I guess the total amount of mofrl was beyond 100. I think it's pretty good considering it was only one marque and that only racing stuff was acepted. Another aspect to considertate is that contrary ro Ferrari kits, there's almost no new Porsche kits with the exception of thte Fujimi Cayman S, or the Tamiya 911.

Thanks for sharing those amazing photos! That looks like the largest gathering of marque cars I have ever seen! Any idea how many cars, models & people attended? I have to send the link to a Porsche friend who was unable to make the event.
