Jon Cole
Hi All, Could anyone tell me if these primers are enamel or Laquer I don't read Japanese. Mr Hobby Mr Surfacer 1000 Tamiya Fine surface Primer L (white) Thank you in advance AFAIK, all the Tamiya sprays are lacquer. They are designed to be used with their lacquer paints. They cannot be enamel, because applying Tamiya spray colors over an enamel primer would be a disaster. Lacquer is chemically 'hotter' than enamel, and would attack the surface underneith. So buy the Tamiya Primer without concern!
mr moto
Mr. Surfacer is definitely lacquer based. If it gets thick on me (as it WILL do) I thin it down with lacquer thinner. I think some enamels these days can tolerate having Mr. Surfacer applied over them BUT don't try it without testing first!!!
Dr. Cranky
I use PLASTIKOTE primers under all the different type of paint systems. Remember the golden rule: when in doubt, test on a plastic spoon.
