Finally got the flier with the correct dates.

This is the 39th year for the Portland Classic. This year it has been renamed to honor our good friend Bob Paeth, who passed away last year from cancer.

The event is March 6,7 , 8, 2009 at the Oregon Convention Center. Thursday March 5th is move-in, any one bringing models to enter on Thursday will be able to do so at no charge. Those bringing entries during the event will be required to pay the admission to the show. Everyone will receive a ticket to get back in on Sunday for the Awards Ceremony.

Also, the reintroduction of "The Best of The Best" contest will happen at this years Classic. If your build has won a class first place or any "Best of" category (Paint, Detail, Engine, Show, etc) you can enter to put your model head-to-head with other top winners.

The Bob Paeth Portland Classic and The Best of The Best are judged contests. If you wish your entry judged, it will be handled by the judging panel.

Hope to see you there.

Go ahead and post it Erik. There undoubtedly are members here that have never seen ANY coverage of the Portland Roadster show or know how instrumental Bob was in making this hobby what it is today.

  • 3 weeks later...

Move in and set-up are today March 5th. Bring your model today from 1-7 and receive a pass to get into the 53rd Portland Roadster Show free sometime over the weekend. There is no cost to enter the contest. However, entries brought in after today will have to pay the admission into the Roadster Show.

Hope to see you there,

Dave

Hi Fletch,

Have a good show. Sorry I'll miss it (and the Roadster Show) 'cause of my commitment to the NNL West. Anyone in the PNW should participate since the number of shows available to us is shrinking.

B.

I fully understand Bernard. You are so right about the number of shows in the Pacific NW. We're not sure what to expect at this years show as the Portland Rod and Custom show use to be 2 weeks before the Roadster Show. Since that show is out of business, at least for this year. We don't know if we will see a dramatic increase in entries since the last model show/contest was the first part of November last year.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip to the bay area and we'll see you at the NNL next month.

Dave
