Starting a Dirt Modeler "Hall of Fame" for builds that placed in competitions.

17 March 2014 - 12:41 PM

With a little bit of help, i'd like to put together an ongoing Hall of Fame to showcase builds that have used Dirt Modeler parts in a modeling competition.

Any awarded placement is welcome.

I'd love to celebrate and document how our parts have been used in builds around the world.

Just send a few photos, the name of the competition, and any information you'd like to share about the build.

I'll compile this all into a nice photo album and have an ongoing showcase online.

I think it would be neat.

Please send to michael@dirtmodeler.com

I appreciate your time.

Drag Racing Gauge panel possibilities, wishes? (next PE project data collection)

06 March 2014 - 08:33 AM

Well, the new parts are released and i'm just about done with all the scale drawings for the website.

So it's time to start thinking about the next project.

To start, i have to round up a bunch of different options so i can figure out what can go with what on which plate, out of what material, and what thickness the plate can be.

I've seen some scratchbuilt gauge panels on some drag racing builds, so i thought maybe i could offer some different versions.

I'm curious if anyone has any specific ones they are interested in having made, maybe you're tired of scratch building one for a certain type of car?

1:24/25 64 Chevy Pro Street Truck Project

01 March 2014 - 07:20 AM

I haven't built a non-dirt car in ages, but want to stray from the norm for a little while and try out some new stuff.

I have one other project in mind, but this one will probably come first.

A 64 Chevy Pro Street Truck.

My late brother actually had a similar looking truck he was working on before he passed away.

I have the donor kit on the way, and will be doing most of the rest out of soldered brass.  It will give me an opportunity to get back to soldering again, and try out some of the new parts i just released.

I'll have this one running a ladder bar suspension.

I'll probably need some help along the way, like a good source for the motor?

I'll also need to find the right tires and wheels, though i'm planning on calling on Micro Nitro to source something, i just love his work.

This inspiration truck isn't complete, so i'll be doing some fantasy adjustments here and there to get it to a near finished state.  I really like the flat painted body panels with colors that don't match.. and will see if i can't get the frame rusty looking.

Anyway, i hope everyone can help me along,  i might have some questions here and there, the chassis and suspension will be the easy part for me.. it's the rest of the stuff i'll be scratching my head with.

More pics to come once the kit arrives and i can start the chassis fab.
