  1. Is this CD still available? What is the current price? Is the PayPal info still correct? I'd like to purchase a copy. Thanks
  2. Work is at a halt on the Hemi Dart while I struggle with getting the rust damage effects I want on the practice bodies. Working on other things at same time to offset the frustration.
  3. RE: The Hemi Dart - It took some major surgery on the front cross member and I had to flatten the bottom of the oil filter some, but the front suspension is now on the chassis. A test mock-up shows that the carbs clear the hood on top and the oil pan & headers are well off the ground on the bottom. Time to start practicing rust effects on that old spare body I've got lying around!
  4. More work on the Hemi Dart's chassis today indicates that the motor DOES clear the flat hood (just barely) and that there will be sufficient ground clearance, but I have some modifications to make to front cross member to clear the front of the oil pan - a simple and painless alteration. I was also surprised to find that I have to alter the rear wheels and the rear axle to get the simple steelie wheels to fit under the chassis/body properly. It's already done, but I'm still figuring out how to strengthen the rear wheel attachment. Not a big issue, just noodling it a bit. I have a few ideas........ I don't think I have any problem with the front wheels (they are shallower), but I'm sure I can deal with it if a problem arises here too. Next up, after making sure that the chassis all works and fits properly, will be to start on the body's rust damage.
  5. I'm pretty sure that I now have the 426 Hemi down low enough to clear the Dart's flat hood (after shaving down the intake manifold where the carbs sit, sanding the carbs down, scratch-building flat air cleaners, removing the engine side of the motor mounts, shaving down the chassis side of the motor mounts, notching them for the headers and thinning the tranny cross-member). I'm not sure about ground clearance now (the headers and the oil pan now hang down awfully low), but one problem at a time. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will be okay as-is.................
  6. The Sleeper Hemi Dart is coming along nicely. The motor is done except for the air cleaner nuts and a bit of black wash. The faded interior tub is done, using the stock interior (not the Hemi drag interior). The flat hood is done and rust primed. the steelie wheels are rust primed. The rear suspension is mounted on the painted chassis. Unfortunately, as the (slightly out of focus) mock-up photo shows, I've got some serious work ahead lowering the engine so that the carbs and air cleaners fit under the flat hood - maybe as much as 1/8 inch. I've also got to make sure that the oil pan still clears the pavement when I'm done lowering the engine AND still clear the torsion bars with the headers.
  7. Re: Hemi Dart Already got the steelies from Ralph, along with skinny tires. Don't plan on any hubcaps, just rusty steelies. Also going to make it a flat hood, This will be my first attempt at rust - hope it works. Already watched a bunch of YouTube videos, so I guess I'm now an expert (WRONG!). Haven't decided what to do with interior - leave it nice or make it ratty. Decisions, decisions, decisions......
  8. Alas, reality sets in. Given my current medical condition and that of my girlfriend, the jet powered Chevy van will have to fall by the wayside. I'll be doing a 68 Hemi Dart beater with grocery-getter wheels and I'm thinking only a single exhaust visible. So please note the change for entry #33!
  9. It's not chocolate - that's my "stealth box" camouflage! (In other words, it was the only box I could find in a hurry that was about the correct size). Progress will follow - after I finally get it started..........
  10. I'm in! Don't know what year Chevy Van - with added secret equipment from Acme Supply Company! <grin>
  11. 1/24 die cast Smart for Two model currently for sale on Amazon for $30. 1-22-2015
  12. I'm in. I've got a crazy idea for this which will be partly revealed after 1/1/2015, though the crazy part won't be revealed until the very end in December 2015.
  13. Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums, though I've subscribed to MCM for years. I'm an avid modeler who seems to build mostly unfinished projects <grin>. My subjects of choice in cars (I also build ships & WWI airplanes) are primarily road racing cars of the 1970's and earlier and also the unusual (like the 1934 Rolls Royce Monster Truck I kit-bashed). I only build in 1/24 - 1/25 scales for cars, 1/48 for the airplanes, 1/72 for plastic model ships and all over the lot for the wooden models ship kits (finished size is more the criterion for those). A friend of mine who is also on the forums told me about the Cannonball Run annual build and this year's theme of "Sleepers," for which I've already got a crazy idea (more to follow after January 1), only the crazy part is saved for the final reveal in December 2015. I live in a condo in FL with my fiancée, Liz, and my building space is squeezed into our garage, so I have to move the car whenever I'm going to build. It's not air conditioned, so the heat and humidity can also be a factor. Still, it's better than what a lot of people have for a workspace, so I feel pretty lucky to have it. Like many of us, I built when I was younger, then got away from it in my later teens and didn't get back until a few years ago, in my 50's (I'm now 63 in fall 2014).
