Craig Irwin
Back in the mid sixties, Car Toons had a recurring story about a hot rodding farmer, Roudy Hogg. In the first apperance he drove a blown Hemi combine. Anyone have a picture of that combine? It might be a bit of silly light hearted building. Jairus
Rudy Hogg was his name and I have all those issues. But dinner is calling and I am beat from working all day and planned on watching Steve McQueen in "LeMans" tonight. Tell you what, if I remember before bed I'll pull some of the images out and post them (Art by Jerry Barnett) here.
Craig Irwin
Thanks for the name correction, (it's been a LONG time!) and anything else you can do! I gave my old CarToons to my son years ago and his mother cleaned up a bit.
Craig Irwin
By the way, I have seen models of Unk's Clunk and Pappy's Back-a-ruda and his Corvair T Buggy (Toonerville T). Has anyone else built a CarToons model? (And of course the Varmints shopping cart a few months ago!) Nitrozilla
Hey Jairus, while you're at it, think you could find a pic of Wonder Warthogg and that incredible Toronado he had ?
Craig Irwin
"The Hog of Steel" ! I remember he had a '66 Mustang with a Hog snout grille too! And his sidekick Sparrow had a Fiat 500.
Nitrozilla
I suppose there could have been a Mustang, but I'm remembering a Toronado with the snout nose smokin' the front tires. I'll keep fingers crossed for both of us Craig. Just did a search and didn't find either one.

Jairus
I dug through my "CARtoon's mags that I have here. The rest are in storage (1964 to 1968) so I don't have the first appearance of Rudy at my fingertips. But I found a nice cross section of some of his inventions. Once again Rudy was the brain child of Jerry Barnett and appeared in almost every issue from 1968 to 1974, when CARtoons changed over to the new format. Here is one rear view of the combine you mention. Not the front image I remember and next trip to storage I will pull out those issues. The Hay Bailer. Inside the barn... A experimental lawn mower. A few misc inventions.... ... and a tractor.
Mercman
Man what a trip down memory lane. I did Pappy's Simi-Sled Cuda years ago, but it's long gone now. Thanks Jarius for the memories.

Craig Irwin
Getting close! The combine I'm looking fore is from the first Rudy Hogg cartoon. The city slickers show up in a new Corvette and a local get's on the phone to to Rudy to set up a run. I don't remember exactly what happened but I'm sure the 'Vette took it tough! plastikfreek
Love the old CARtoons mags...Back a few years ago, Muscle Machines put out some 1/64 scale cars that had miniature copies of CARtoons magazines packaged with them...I have a few of these cars, and was able to locate the actual magazines that matched the scaled down verisons in the packages.... I'll have to dig them out and shoot some pics...CARtoons was what inspired me to draw cars..Shawn Kerri...George Trosley...etc... Love 'em all.............. Craig Irwin
Old flashback here, the "Racehound Bus" with 4 blown Hemis, Car Toons mag back in about '63 or so........ That would be Car-azy in 1/25 scale!
