Kaleb
I have a few clears, one in particular that I am really wanting is the dupli color. Will this clear work with this paint? I've got the paint to come out like I wanted. So I don't want to mess it up. Edited February 28, 2013 by Kaleb
Guest G Holding
Lacquer over lacquer will work. Read the labels to make sure they both are.
Gluhead
Should work...but the emphasis there is on the "should". It doesn't always. When in doubt, always shoot a piece of scrap with the combo you want to use. Preferably from the same kit the body came from.
Erik Smith
Test first. Duplicolor clear is relatively "hot", so, yeah... Also, why experiment on a good paint job? Use what has worked for you before and leave the experiments to spoons or other people's models. Edited March 1, 2013 by Erik Smith
Kaleb
Lol well, what always works for me is to never clear coat my cars.
Steven Zimmerman
If it is a solid color, I don't clear - it will polish out just as well as with clear. And when i do clear, i never cross - mix paints, even if they both are lacquer, or both enamel. For me, ALWAYS Duplicolor over duplicolor, krylon over Krylon, etc. You may try other mixes, but why take a chance ?....Follow the manufacturer's reccommendations ALWAYS, IMHO....Even if it works NOW, you may get a reaction months or years down the road ( speaking from 40 plus years experience....)...'Z'
mcandela
I go with what Steve mentioned, duplicolor over duplicolor. I have been painting for years with duplicolor and used their clear with great results, but when I use the clear on top of any other laquer it will shine but not as good as if it was on duplicolor.
