Q tip Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I have had this kit on the shelf for about a year now. After having what I call " the zombie flu" the past couple of weeks I finally have mustered up enough energy to start cutting up a perfectly good kit. Hope you enjoy the start of this project and stay tuned for updates.......than Q!
kilrathy10 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 That IS a serious extension on the chassis....Very nice looking fenders, too....
Q tip Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Used Vallejo air brush ready acrylic orange on the frame and gun metal grey on the fenders. They dry flat so I chased them with future floor polish blown straight threw the air brush. A lot more custom work to come. Thanks Q!
Q tip Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Thanks for the feed back. On the fenders I stumbled on a way to form these so they match. I will post it in the tip section....Q
Christopher J Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 This looks like an awesome build! I've had ine of these on order since December, cant wait for it to show up. I also ordered a Prostar as thats what I used to drive. I'm thinking about making my Prostar a daycab and and doing something like a Double Eagle sleeper on the Lonrstar. I'll be folliwing this build for sure.
Q tip Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 Done a little more work the past couple evenings. Built the outlaw visor in the same method as the fenders due to the curve and slope of the windshield. The decking is made from card stock and thin balsa painted to match the frame and spaced to show the chrome foil underneath. The head lights...well it think looks just cool, giving it the old time feel. Thanks for lookin. Q!
Kostas Parchas Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 John, You have done great work so far. I like the gril, I like the headlights (maybe not so close to the gril) and I like also the bat sunvisor. All you need now is a big turbo wing above the sleeper. Kostas.
Q tip Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 Thanks for the input. I just taped the head lights to see what it would look like, I'm trying to get the old puck up truck look that the lone star was modeled after. I never would have thought about the chicken slide for the top. Gotta get back to the drawing board now! Thanks again kostas,,,,,,, Q
BigBad Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Gotta love that wooden deck! Nice! I thought of putting some Peterbilt light pod on that hood. That is going to look pretty good!
Truck parts Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 WoW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is one sweet looking truck. I like the old school look.
Q tip Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Navistar lone star eagle broughm Limited edition? Wow what a name plate that would be. Enough with words! Enjoy the pics.......thanks john
Christopher J Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Very clean work so far. Your build has given me some ideas for my two if they'd ever show up. I really like the headlight relocation you did. The large decal really adds to it.
