White western star

Here's the start to my new project, it's an amt white western star kit. Ill be purchasing a 72 inch Hendrickson rear suspension setup from Dan at plaskit, and thinking about buying a kta600 as well, will be built as a daycab too

Thinking of using a set of the float tires found in the pay star kits. Keeping the spoked wheel theme but using bigger rubber

As with the other AMT kits in the White/Autocar/Western Star/Diamond Reo line - the cab fit/hood fit is tricky. I like the temporarily install the hood without the radiator in place - and align the cab - gluing it in place, then installing the radiator. If you follow the instructions and install the cab first, you'll fight with the fit and hingles. It's easier to adjust the cab than the hood.

Okay I'll take that in consideration than when I continue on with it tonight! Ill glue the hood brackets on first because there going black anyway like the frame

Well got a bit more done, rear suspension is left as is, but using the spoked wheels off the amt Chevy Titan, they look more aggressive, if I can't score a kta soon ill settle for a 3408 cat v8 as I have one already.

Think I'm going to add double square headlights instead of the kits round ones, it might update the styling a little bit as well, like the headlights from the amt kenworth t600

Here an update on my western star, started scratch building an exhaust and a dual external air breather system.

Well got a little more done tonight on the star, made up my own floatation wheels. Using the bill signs rubber. Rear wheels are amt chevy Titan spoked painted flat black with chrome centre caps and silver trim ring. Used my new Dremel to trim the hood up were I made the dual breathers. The picture with the new square headlights are just sitting there. I find it gives it a completely different look!!
