russosborne Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 For the Badman kit. I never realized that the kit engine was a 283. Thanks, Russ
Craig Irwin Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) Because the Badman is 1/24, I would look for one from the Monogram 1970 Chevelle SS, although it's a 454, they look the same outside. Edited December 7, 2013 by Craig Irwin
Guest Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Craig's right. That's the engine that I used in mine. You just have to transplant the transmission mounts over onto the Chevelle's bell housing or add a transmission cross member.
jaydar Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 VCG Resin has a 1/25 454. I might use that in my '69 Chevelle. Joe.
Toner283 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 For a kit based one, the best one that I have found is in the Monogram 65 Impala SS 396 2dr hardtop kit. Excellently executed engine. The ones that I have robbed the engines out of have a picture of the real impala on the box painted a horrible pale purple color. Monogram kit #2470. And like has been pointed out in several different threads on here, in scale a 396/402/427/454 are all visually the same. This kit: http://www.modelcars.com/monogram-1965-chevy-impala-ss-396.html Since it is 1/25 scale, it might not work for you though.
Force Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 (edited) I would go for the engines from either the old Monogram 66 Malibu Street Rat or 70 Chevelle 3 'n 1 as both are the only supercharged engines I know of in 1/24th scale. Edited December 10, 2013 by Force
