I saw that Fireball Modelworks did a set in 33X12.5R15 which is a tad too large.

Isn't that what I said???

I'm looking to see if there is a source for 1/25 BF Goodrich Radial Mud Terrain T/A tires in a 31X10.5 R15 size. I saw that Fireball Modelworks did a set in 33X12.5R15 which is a tad too large. Trying to replicate the '80 Toyota 4X4 I owned when I was stationed in Alaska.

Awesome job so far Seth. The '69 Chevelle is my favorite Bow Tie car. Love the subtle weathering you are doing to make your paint pop.

Very cool! Buick nailhead engine backed up with a Turbo 350 trans. Love it. I'll be following along with this one.

Thanks all for the suggestions. BONDIC looks promising but I'm not sure of the yellowing of the resin. I'll definitely be giving some of these ideas a try. 👍

The "flatness" you experienced is due to the paint reacting to the plastic. Many kits starting from the "Made in China" era are molded in plastic that is very susceptible to reacting (and sometimes melting) with certain solvents. Using a good enamel/lacquer primer underneath will (in most cases) not react with the plastic surface and allow you to use any type of paint you want over it.
The Tamiya paints are really good, but they tend to be very hot on modern plastics so you must use a good base coat with primer underneath. Also helps to have a flat or gloss black base coat (over the primer) before the metallic finisher coat of your choice. This will make the metallic highlights pop better than just putting the main coat over grey primer or just the bare body alone.
Pretty sure this is Revell's 1966 GTO Rick. The MPC 67 is a real pooch of a kit and doesn't have near this detailed of an engine bay.

Absolutely.
This is the biggest issue with fitment that I run into with my projects.
I have a habit of being too precise with fit during the engineering phase, and with the addition of paint, it can occasionally become a problem later.
Steve
I realize the OP is talking about interiour tubs but Steve's comment here is especially true when it comes to hoods fitting.

I'm trying to find out what others are doing to get rid of that toy look with chrome headlights short of drilling them out and replacing with clear parts. I've seen where others have covered them over with something that gets rid of that too shiny look but a search of the forum isn't turning up anything. I'm sure this has been covered before but for the life of me I can't find it.

I have been using the Paasche H for over 40 years and have never had the bottle or paint cup fall out. I tried a Badger years ago because that's what a buddy was using and ended up hating it. Went straight back to my Paasche H. It's super simple to clean and does a great job.

One of the best jobs I've seen on this particular kit. Total stunner. You captured the look of the real show rod.

Here is a pic right after getting back from painters but before I could find the right sized GTO emblems.

Glad I could rekindle those memories, Don. My buddy Bill owned the Verdoro Green GTO I modeled and I had the Meridian Turquoise convertible you see in my avatar. Hours of fun in those hot cars!
I love those old Goats so much I went out and bought a numbers matching '70 GTO. In modeling form I'm working on accurizing the old MPC kit to represent this car. It's painted Atoll blue and the painter gave me some extra paint after I got the full sized one resprayed.
At some point down the road I'd like to have a complete collection of GTOs from 1964 until 1972 in 1/25 or 1/24.
Thanks again and I'd love to see pics of your Meridian Turquoise if you have them.

Just saw this one, and it's funny but I just finished a build with those very colors. The Ivy Gold I used came from "The Parts Place" and it worked perfectly - metallic but no discernible flakes. The Verdoro Green is from "Automotive Touchup" and is the best rattle can paint I've ever used. Both a bit pricey at $20 or so but I was very happy with the results. Good luck with yours!
Talk about dredging up and old thread. I totally missed this reply! I think this was right around the time I had my second knee surgery. Anyway, you totally nailed this Curt! This is exactly what my old '68 Goat looked like. Except mine was so rusted out that only the hood, roof and trunk lid didn't flap in the wind when I went down the highway. Fantastic job.

Congrats on your award. Awesome job!

Stellar build. Very elegant in the silver.

Such a beautiful build. Your level of detail is amazing. I love the low angle photos. Gives the car an agressive stance. Well done!

Great looking GTO. I have this kit on the work bench myself. Hope mine turns out as well as yours.

Holy Schnikes! I used to own the real thing back in the day you nailed it. Amazing job.

Amazing build. I thought I was looking at the real thing in the first photo.

Wow! What an amazing job. Great save.

Great job so far. Will be following along. I have several of these old Monogram kits in the stash and have grown to appreciate them as I've gotten older.
