Just picked up the contest issue at my lhs. On page 8 there is a fire truck that has Pinecrest Miniatures hood and fenders on it. Is Pinecrest still around and do they have a web site?

They are photo etch items from kit form services.

What did you use for the air cleaners? They look good. Those aren't the stock ones that come with the truck. :
The air cleaners are from Mo'Luminum. I scratch built the brackets from brass tube and flat stock then applied BMF to the brackets.

The stacks, tail board and mudflaps are now on. I kitbashed a set of street rod head lights from kit supplied parts and parts from a monogram speed wagon. Diamond plated the rear of the frame. I also added a fire extinguisher to the cab. Don't have much more to do on this and I can call it done.

Here is a pic of the KFS stacks on my flamed Pete. I will definately be getting more of these.

Line O Tape carries red/white reflective tape. There part number is 201. This is reflective also like the 1:1 stuff. It is self adheasive and a scale 2" wide. One role is enough to do a few models. I found mine at a lhs.

Thanks for the compliments.
Tonight I decided to add chicken sticks to the Texas bumper. I scratch built these from brass rod and tube. I turned down sprue from an AMT crearance light tree to 1.25 mm for the lights with my cordless dremel tool and exacto knife. Below are the results of my efforts tonight.

The flames are air brushed with HOK paint. The engine was painted cummins beige, give a wash of oil paint and a clear flat coat. Thanks for the kind comments.

Wow after reading this I'm glad I never shelled out the cash for one, guess I was so overwelmed by seeing something different I never observed the simularities.

From what I understand and have seen the only N14 that had the red rocker box covers were the celect plus that were 525 hp. Under 525 hp they were black and even shaped different.

Well after the summer off from modeling (not by choice) I opened up a new kit. A military kit at that. Well since olive drab is just that I decided to build this as a decommissioned truck. Cab and frame colors are duplicolor Cherry red and the front fenders are black pearl.

I've been polishing out my paint for some time now. What I like about it is that one can take a paint job that has been botched by a piece of dog hair, wet sand and polish it out to pefection.

I like it, looks very good. I like the details you added to make it look like the fog light les is broken. The front bumper don't look bad to me.

I believe the truck pricing for fleet and municipalities was done via the bid process. The fleet or gov agency specs out a truck. Goes to the manufactures and says this is what we want/need. How much, what kind of warranty and who ever comes in the cheapest with the best warranty sells the truck. Also running costs (who much it costs to run the truck over a given time period.) will also come into play.

If you have your choice of printers I would use the laser, reason being is with the ink jet printer the decal smears easily. The clear coat needs to be applied to the decal prior to putting it on the model.

More progress has been made. The service body is painted and more computer generated decals have been applied. Now it will be back to the paint booth for the clear coat. Can't wait till that is applied and dry, I'm looking forward to detailing out the service body.

Progress update.
The cab and sleeper have been painted, polished and decaled. some of the decals were made on my computer, the door logo's were made by another modeler on his alps printer, the permits are from my parts bin and the fuel tank lettering are dry transfers.
I decided that the kit supplied stacks were to small so I made some scale 8" stacks from stainless steel tube. I scratch built the stack brackets from brass square tube and round tube. They were soldered togther with plumbing solder used on coper pipe.
