I attempted fiber optics on my GT500 and they just weren't bright enough no matter what I used. I went to LED's instead.

Did you try and melting the tips of the optics? I heard that makes them brighter.

Hi. I am new to the forums. Just got back into model making after retiring from the rc scene. I built cars and truck as a kid. Just started to build aircraft carriers in 1/350 scale. I started a post in the big scale category. Check it out and any comments and tips is greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking. Here is a picture of the carrier I built.

i finally picked up the 1/12 Shelby. i was just going do the Shelby as a Shelby but figured theres already to many on here and i like being different so i'm making a mild custom 5.0 Mustang.
the rims are from the 1/8 t-bucket and they fit perfect in the Shelby tires and look awesome on the car. i just need to figure out how to do the mount backings.
then i deleted the snake in the grill and found some light buckets the fit in the grill prefect
then made the pony emblem for the grill
and also made the rear gas cap emblem
had to shave the diff housing to lower it to where i want it.
then worked on the rear spoiler, just didnt look like it fit that great on the sides so i cut it down the middle and will be filling the gap to make it fit like it should
Where did you get the light buckets for the grille?

So I bought the GT500 from Hobby Lobby like many others did here (40% off coupon.) Just could not bring myself to build it box stock. Sooooo the picture search began and I settled on the Super Snake. The first order of business was to find a set of wheels.......like many here I found this to be quite difficult. I found that the R/C world had more to offer than anything so I purchased the wheels below which look pretty similar to the originals (or close enough for the lack of choices out there.) On to the hood! 12 hours later of cutting, filling, sanding, filling, sanding, priming, !!! ??!! Finally got the hood ready for paint.
Here's some progress shots so far....
Some wheel mockups......
Car WILL look like this.
How did you make the hood scoop? Out of styrene?
