  1. Put it on some body's shoulder and wait for them to scream! The color is perfect, making the most of its creepy-crawly appearance. I knew a lady who had a red & white one. I think it had a 2 stroke engine; anyway she had to add oil to the gas. We had 5 folks in it and rolled back that top to avoid claustraphobia. It was indeed tiny; we cringed whenever a giant VW bug zoomed up behind us.
  2. Looks beautiful, love the color! Excellent dashboard too. I just peeked in the box of my kit and I'm not impressed by the V12 engine. It doesn't compare favorably to the engines in other cars from this series (Bugatti 35B, Duesenberg SJ, etc.) The engine is similar to a Ford Flathead V8 and AMT did a much better design! The problem is that the intake manifold, carb, and air cleaner are all molded as part of the engine halves and thus there's a seam right down the center, splitting all those little parts. The battle ship piece from a Monopoly game would look better.
  3. Very nice model. I really like the CD antenna. I was in High School when that film came out so I ought to understand the dialogue but I just can't. What the heck does "unload" mean, as in "I think I'm gonna unload". They made it sound deep and philosophical but maybe it just meant vomit. Supposedly the other car was a '68 Chevy. Weird that the actor following them around in a helicopter was killed by a movie helicopter crashing on him (Twilight Zone).

Didn't I mention this was a slot car? (I can't believe I never noticed that before!)

I built this Matchbox model about one year ago. It was a challenge (for me) to build such a small car in 1/32 scale. I added the spark plug wires, the parts on the firewall, and an oil filter line. I could not resist adding the fuel overflow tubes on the carburetor float bowls. Apparently the fuel lines from the bowls clog regularly and they would dump raw gas onto the exhaust manifold if these tubes didn't route the gas down to a location below the manifold and dump the gas on the ground. The kit lacked a line depicting the separation of the oil pan and engine block...I was almost done before I noticed it and I added some styrene strip in a hurry. The air filter lacked any intake vents so I added some from a Nascar radiator "grille" decal. Better than nothing I guess. I added the map pockets on the inside of the doors, along with a map made by cutting out a bit of a decal sheet. I think the sheet was from a 1960's Hot Wheels car. Yep, I am old. Lastly, I made the plywood floor boards from cardstock. The heavy black paint is wearing away and needs to be renewed. I made this baby into a race car (at the very last minute) because the windscreen was too clunky and needed eradication. This makes the presence of the roadmap a little interesting....must be a very old-fashioned road course. Thanks for looking!
  6. Just another car muddler here. (I've also been known as Ace {and/or Essex} on other model sites {and as Cornelius Winchester "Ace" Bass on those social media sites [so I can spy on my children]}). I've been building for nearly 45 years but I think my skills peaked about 30 years ago and now, alas, my eye balls are getting blurry. Although I strive to improve with every model, I only do it for fun. I like old cars, especially showroom stock versions, but I'm starting to like customs, rat rods and hot rods. I'd like to try building Andy Hardy's jalopy someday. I am officially boring myself now....
