  1. Hello, I really like your work, just the right amount of weathering! I’m looking forward to see your next report. The other cars are really nice examples of how sport cars developed throughout the eighties. Regards, Ronald
  2. The last pictures reveal the car in dry fit. Thank you very much for your interest in my project. Regards, Ronald
  3. Hello Reader, It’s already time for update 2. During the past day’s I’ve been working on the interior and engine of the car. The engine and the other components in the engine bay received a few layers of paint and the PE is attached. The stabilizer in the Hamann SLR seems to be made of titanium, so that’s the color I’ve used. Sometimes I don’t follow the instructions just to create something original to the car. For example the compressor, I didn’t use the same aluminum as I’ve used on the engine. The wiring on the engine cover is odd looking and is not even close to the original car. So I’ve cut of the plastic wiring and replaced it with real electric cables, they look better. Of course the cables need to be cut to seize, I’ll do that soon before final installation because ad the moment I don’t know how long they must become. The chairs are ready for final installation; the post shading gives the impression of shades in the seams. The dashboard is ready for a layer of lacquer. The pedal box is installed; the macro picture reveals that I have to add a little black to the corner of the pedal box. At the moment I’m finishing small parts, like the hats shelf and the engine bay with extra components for finall fixation, this I will do later.
  4. I really like your model, for the paint on the wheels I like matt black. I'll folow your build. Regards, Ronald
  5. This is already looking great! I'll keep on following you. Regards, Ronald
  6. Hello Dan, the reason for me using this method is plain and simple I wanted to create carpet effect in my previous build. Flour was ad hand, sand was the other option but it was too dirty to use over the flour. Later I learnt about a commercial product. Other reasons I can imagine are, flour is cheaper and flour is neutral with regards to color, so spray paint will cover faster over flour than a darker flocking. Regards, Ronald @All, thank you very much for your positive words, they give me energy.
  7. Hello Jonathan, Thank you for your interest and positive comments. About the flour, I do this for a while now and never met de the issue you comment about. The reason is that the flour is fully enclosed by paint so air just can't reach it. In other words the organic process can't start. Regards, Ronald
  8. Hello Joe, Yet again a magnificent piece of work from you. I do my best to develop to your level of craftsmanship. Regards, Ronald
  9. Hello Dan thanks for the compliment. The flour is rather easy to use Dan. I’ll start with a base layer in the end color and then I’ll spray a wet base in which I put the flour in. Based on the looks at the moment and the model scale I’ll repeat the procedure once or twice. Only in case I’ve forgotten a spot, I’ll fill it with a tiny bit of flour on that location. Good luck and happy modeling, Ronald
  10. All ways good to see a WIP of the Enzo. A rather daring choice for the body color although it worked out nice. Grtz, Ronald
  11. The last picture shows the model until today. What is left to do; I’ll have to create depth on the chair covers, the back of the chairs have to be painted black and the hats shelf has to be varnished. Thank you for paying attention to my build and hope to meet again. Regards, Ronald
  12. Dear Reader, After the summer break from building model kits on my race bike I wanted to start over with my 1/12 Lambo. To cut the story short I was hit by a car being driven by a drunken driver. The parts I have to work on are too small for the moment I cannot focus or concentrate myself good enough to maintain a level of quality. So I’ve decided to start with a 1/24 kit (strange a 1/24 kit has bigger small parts than a 1/12 kit). The car in question is the Hamann SLR Volcano based on the Mercedes Benz McLaren SLR. Some love it, some hate it for its looks there’s no compromise so it seems when speaking about this car. The base kit is the Tamiya SLR and is very well engineered, just shake well with the box and you’re done! Well not for this guy, I bring in the Hobby Design Resin kit and a carbon decal sheet from Scale Motor Sports. The Hobby Design Resin kit fits well together, much better than what I’ve read about their full kits. The next picture shows the real car and is the one I’m going to recreate. The boxes I’m going to use during the coming weeks. The resin parts uring The brakes is it really 1/24 or? The upholstery will be red/brown with black carpets. Some parts though will be black such as the window frames to the roof and the back of the upholstery this will be cleared on the photos. I’ll use flour to create the carpets. Next pages for the end of the post
  13. Dear Joe, Just 2 remarks: WHOOOOOW (no further words because to severely impressed). If I where the minister of defense in The Netherlands: By decree Oshkosh would be the sole supplier of vehicles to the Royal Dutch Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air force for centuries to come, unfortunately these vehicles are too large for our roads :D I’ll follow your build, regards Ronald
  14. What a fascinating, amazing and beautiful model it is! Ronald
  15. Hello Martin, What a fantastic looking Cobra replica, I like that car very much for its design and raw power and a true timeless design. Your GT40 is extremely well built and although I’m not a fan of weathering, you did a great job doing it! Regards, Ronald
  16. Hello Martin, Yes it became a report rather answering your questions; it must have something to do with not being a native English speaker. The GT40 is for me also a must have, I would like to build the famous Gulf version for its livery. During a meeting a maker of the model told to he was very disappointed about the model. Basically he recommended me to turn to other models, unless I would seriously downgrade my expectations. I would like to see your model and the details you added. I don’t know if I have enough experience to determine if the wheel / tire package is not correctly portrayed, amongst the other slight inaccuracies or simplifications. Yes I will post my WIP and tell about what I come across. My current WIP is lacking this text but that is soon to be all right, after the restart. To help me I usually gather lots and lots of photos, SMS has a cd with a ton of pictures that I’ve purchased to help me during the WIP. What is your profession that you have 1:1 experience with the engine, gearbox and several GT's? Hopefully you will be able to answer questions the moment the rise? Regards, Ronald
  17. Hello Martin, I realized that I did not answer your questions so here I'm to answer these. First I want to make clear that I bought the model because I like the Ferrari Enzo very much, the organic shape of the body, I consider it stunning. Technically it is also a remarkable car made for F1 technology being introduced on a road going car. Also I want this kit because I like 1/12 kits because I can add more details and alter or ad parts to the kit. Is there disappointment with the kit when finally examined in person? Not at all, after opening the box I was amazed by the amount and the quality of the parts in the box. That’s what I like about Tamiya kits these are advance kits and in general well engineered. This is also the reason why I didn’t bought the Trumpeter GT40, also a car that I must have, Trumpeter made mistakes that are not easy to overcome. This is maybe the reason that SMS says it’s to toy like to make an aftermarket kit for. Your right about the aftermarket kits usually I’ll wait to see if they what I expect them to be. Well for the Enzo it’s a bit hard because they’re not being built and used. So I decided to give it ago and collect what I thought would be worth the kit and my experience. The ABS question is not clear to me, I know that the body is made of this material but with 2 component glue it’s easy to fixate. The ill-fitting door is a little problem I have seen the solution already. The 'wrong wheels / tire' assertion is not clear to me what do you mean? The wheels seem correct. Regards, Ronald
  18. Speaking about the devil, a friend just send me a WIP I've never seen before. http://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=46962&pageNo=1 It's in German but Google translate is your friend. Ronald
  19. I'ts kind of strange indeed, I found only three builds not including the full carbon advertisment Enzo. Maybe people hope for big money in years to follow, see the vintage tamiya's, well I'm only gessing. I do have one as well and, like Joe, collecting details. Ad the moment I'm waiting my recovery so I can continue with the 1/12 lamborghini. In 2014 I'll start a forum build with the 1/12 Mustang followed by the Enzo.
  20. Hello Mitchell, this is a fantastic looking car a job well done so far!
  21. Hello everybody, thank very much for the very nice compliments. @Dan sorry to hear, track & field injury? I'm on morphine so I can't work on the model ad the moment. I have the concentration of a vegtable I see what you mean, with becomming insane while housebound @Shardik, no issue with the biodegradables because as you also conclude, their under a few layers of airbrush paint. And yes there is a lot to see in this scale @Peekay, yes drunken drivers should crash on bridge post's or something similar. @ Joe, just give it a try it will rewarding. Regards, Ronald
  22. I like this car a lot. Should see the movie for his friends
  23. Dear Reader, After being on a break from modeling for 30 years I decided in 2010 to start over again, this time however I wanted to do it differently, more accurate and with attention for detail. So I started with a 1/24 car and got hooked again. now I present the Illusive Lamborghini Countach LP500S. I started this build in January 2013 and was on a brake during the summer. I wanted to start again however was hit by a car being driven by a drunk driver during cycling (my other big hobby). I’ll start with showing the box with on it a red car, mine will be in blue with golden rims and white interior with black carpets. The cell phone is an indication of the size of the car! I decieded to build my car as it just left the garage, I really admire folks who build their models with a used look but I don't have the talent to do so. The works started with the engine. I followed the instructions but adjusted the ignition wiring, I used the basics as sparkplug cabs and glued the wright color and width ignition wiring on them. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6714-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6713-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6716-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6715-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6719-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6718-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6720-/ The gear shift leaver supplied in the kit is not scale correct so I changed it for one made of brass. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6722-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6721-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6723-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6725-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6724-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6726-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6727-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6728-/ The speakers where shallow dots in the body, so a drill bit did wonders. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6730-/ The chairs are white with a little bit of blue. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6731-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6732-/ As I said earlier I wanted to at more detail to the kit so I used flower to replicate the carpet in the interior. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6733-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6735-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6734-/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/gallery/image/6736-/ This complete my topic for now. Because of my injuries it will take a while before I’ll post the new update. Thank you very much for reading, regards Ronald
  24. Dear All, Thank you very much for the warm welcome! The morphine is indeed gooooood, the pain is almost gone. My injuries are serious but fortunately, not permanent so I’m recovering from them. Regards, Ronald
  25. Dear all, My name is Ronald and 46 years of age, I'm focused on building 1/12 cars. At the moment I’m working on a Lamborghini Coutach LP500. Unfortunately I was hit by a drunk driver while cycling, so I cannot make any progress at the moment (I'm on morphine). As soon I'm able, I will post pictures. Regards, Ronald
