Hello all,
As a petrolhead, I like the American pony car/muscle car concept of the late sixties-early seventies. They're simply awesome. The looks, the noise, the smell, it just overwhelms all your senses. Couldn't care less about dynamics or performance, these cars are beyond that. It’s about soul, something that lacks in most modern cars.
As you may have guessed, most of my stock pile of unbuilt kits comprises Detroit iron of that era, as well as some of my finished models. So I would like to present these Mustangs, built a few years ago.
The white one represents a 1965 Shelby GT350R that raced at Le Mans in 1967. Added some scratch built detail to the engine bay and to the interior.
It’s painted with Zero paints, including the stripes, instead of decals.
The blue Shelby represents a 1966 road car modded with Webber carbs, scratch built.

The 1971 Mach1 is a curbside Arii kit. It comes with nonstandard wheels that I tried to make them look not too bad, and no decals. All stripes were masked and painted. The green color is as well non-standard. I just mixed this color trying to come up with a sort of lime green metallic shade by mixing a lot of different colors (Vallejo, Tamiya and Gunze - luckily the mix didn´t explode on the workbench). And finally, the oddball BMW M Coupe was built from a rather bad curbside Revell pre-painted kit, that I rebuilt using a proper BMW color mixed by Zero paints.
I photographed this lot together because I wanted to see how this European modern interpretation of a muscle car would look like among seriously evil company.
Hope you like!
Regards from Lisbon
