  1. So I figured I should put some newer pix up. The first group were from about 6 months ago. For those that joked I needed more shelf space - I added a whole extra shelf above the previous ones and made the back wall shelves deeper. I've made a lot of progress on the cars. Still, nothing is finished. Doing this many cars at once, you can imagine the inventory control problems I have. So I try to get the engines at least sitting in a chassis, tires a least next to the car, rear wings placed behind the engine and so on. So If you notice a wrong engine on a car, or the wrong wheels for a car, it is likely I haven't finalized which car those parts go to. I just have them placed there to make sure I have the right count. I added shelves above and made the back shelves deeper I'm using the space as efficiently as possible - I'm hanging my painting stands from the rafters There are fewer all white cars now, but still plenty. It will keep me busy for a while. Each shelf on the back wall fits 2 rows of funny cars and 1 row of dragsters. This looks like a used race car lot! What I like to do most is unique cars. Here's Garlits' shortie and the one time he ever ran with wheel pants. Behind Garlits you might have noticed the Peterson & Fritz streamliner from the 1970's, The body was easy, making my own decals is going to be a bear! I made the wedges for Goodall's and Prudhomme's cars above. The after market wedges and wedges from the kits were not right. This is the mustang wall. Everything from Tasca to The Blue Max to John Force is over here. The top shelf has Vega FC's, a bunch of extra FC & TF chassis and various tins. And the shelf above that has a ton of extra bodies. Yes, I actually do finish some. Here's the awful display stand in my office. It holds about 200 cars. Once I get everything cleaned up (you can see dust on everything) I will post better pix of the cars I've completed and those I'm working on. I've been doing this for about 43 years, so I've collected all this stuff over time. I'm lucky my wife wants me to do this. She says it helps me relax, I think it keeps me out of her way! JR
  2. I have this terrible 9 ft tall wood cabinet in my office with lots of shelves. It has about 200 completed cars in it. It's dark and a really lousy display. I'm planning a display made of tempered glass, like the ones you see in stores. I will replace the wood structure with the glass shelves and then put more glass shelves on the wall behind my desk. Time frame? End of summer/fall? I've got to get it done, I'm running out of space in the shop!
  3. What a great paint job, on the body and the chassis. Great details in the cockpit. Real nice work.
  4. Fantastic looking car! Great wiring, great details!
  5. Hi Jim, It looks like lots of the same thing, but the white cars are all just the base car waiting for me to decide which engine, wheels, paint, etc. I only build real drag racers, and since there is a limited supply of donor kits, they all look the same in the beginning. I try to go for the odd cars when I can. For instance, right now I'm working on the Cerny Moody dragster from the 70's with the "airplane style" rear wing. I just finished Garlits' first RE, the one with the rail chassis showing out the front. But I found some pix of that car with a massive rear wing, (pre-Winternationals debut of the full bodied car) so that is the version I built. I'll be getting pix up soon of the cars I'm doing.
  6. Nice looking cars. Love the details in the engine compartments.
  7. Fantastic car! Great detail - clean build! The front springs blow me away!
  8. A "little" OCD? I'm HUGE OCD!!
  9. Best looking, cleanest motor I've ever seen. Wow!
  10. I'm new to the forum, so I thought I start by showing my model shop. I tend to build everything all at once. When I'm building engines, I build 20 or so at once, chassis, the same. Even when painting, I tend to prime a dozen cars at once. I'm not anywhere near as good as some of you, but what I lack in detail, I make up for in volume! These are pix from about 6 mos ago. Newer pix to come soon. JR
  11. Wow! Fantastic build! The detail is incredible.
