Hi all well I've done all the fluer de lys on the other side I recon that must be about 30,000 of them (or at least that's what it seems like). One thing of would suggest with this kit, for any others intending to build it is either do not glue the angels on the rear of the ship or at least omit the trumpets till the model is finished as I've knocked them off numerous times and have now put them I a bag for safe keeping till I've finished the kit when I will finally glue them on (assuming I remember)

Hi all I won this on ebay and as described the bowsprit was broken, well i've fixed the bowsprit to be honest I dont think I will be staring this before my hols in a weeks time but I am excited by the prospect. the moulding for such an old kit I think is outstanding, its certainly equal to the Heller La reale.

Hi all well I'm learning lots with this build, oven cleaner takes the gold off ok but not the size, the size is still sticky so you could probably guild it again, if you try and sand it you get lots of little sticky particles all over the part that you cant get off white spirt wont touch it, but, eureka methylated spirits gets it off.

Outstanding, gobsmacked, I said I couldn't see what more detail you could add, well now I know awesomely, fantastically, superb.

Hi all well not a great experiment but at least I now know, now I just have to see if oven cleaner will take the gold leaf off and the acryllic size. I've also learned you cant mask with just masking fluid.

Emailed Heller and have been told the parts were shipped on the 23rd so hopefully not long to wait. Still won't get much done as off on hols in a fortnight.

Omg that is just incredible.

I am having all sorts of problems getting rid of the loose flakey bits that you just cant seem to brush off, so I've decided to try guilding the whole part then painting over the guilding. I've started by sizing all the parts for guilding then guilding the whole lot Now painting it also I decide to put a wash over some of the solid gold parts to highlight some of the detail
