interesting.  i did some googling last night and was rather intrigued by the Hillman Imp.  rear engine, water cooled.  sounds interesting to me.  but it has a look that makes me want to turn it into a 70's era touring car.

    kinda digging that brown Sunbeam.

Some years ago a nearly bought a rally prepared Imp Californian, the fast back version. Turned it down due to an oil leak problem.

  2. Do you microchip your cats in the US? It’s been introduced to law here in the UK recently. When we had cats, we had them fitted when they came to us as a matter of course, along with the jabs, etc.

NOS Athearn HO scale Alco PA1 locomotive shell in Delaware & Hudson livery. I'm pretty sure this shell is out of production, as more recent Proto 2000 PA models from Walthers are essentially vastly upgraded Athearn models, with separate handrails, knuckle-style couplers that are NOT truck mounted, etc. I have a new Proto "DCC-ready" chassis to go under this old girl. The new chassis is complete with all the upgrades to make this vintage shell the equal of a gennie Proto 2000 unit.

The D&H is rapidly becoming my all time favorite of the "fallen flag" railroads because of their habit of buying some very interesting used locomotives and then rebuilding them, including four Alco PAs, plus saving the last two remaining Baldwin "Sharks" from the scrapper and returning them to revenue service.

The model, carrying number 19, is representative of one of the four real PA locomotives bought used by D&H and rebuilt, shown below in 1978.

    Nice score.

Back in 1996, I had a drive of a PA that was at the Mexican National Railway Museum in Puebla. During my Mexican trip I also saw the one that was eventually repatriated to the US.

my main irktoday is tourists. in particular one american animal that was either too dumb or too entitled to realise dollars are not accepted in our shops and when she eventually left and i was being served she returned, shoved me out of her way violently and started shouting at the kid behind the till again. I lost my temper so i started cussing her out and she didn't look happy about it but i'm sick of having to bend over backwards to make them feel welcome when we get nothing from it. tourists get new everything but our pensioners get stuck in old run down homes cos theres no money for them. i have health conditions so her pushing me to the ground actually did some damage and i'm supposed to be going on holiday next week which might not happen now so thats more money wasted.

That’s a real bummer Les, sorry to hear about it. Hope you’re better soon.

We live near York (the original one 🙂) and that is also a tourist hotspot but I’ve never heard of an incident like yours.

This is probably THE most challenging model I've added to my collection of very old "craftsman kits" to date, an HO scale Ideal Models Bucyrus-Erie 150 ton railroad crane. I believe it dates from at least 60-70 years back (check the "deco" box-art, different from later versions of the same kit). It's made from embossed foil-coated cardstock overlays that have to be precisely cut out and glued over thicker pre-punched cardstock and balsa underlayments. Even the pulley sheaves get built up from pre-punched cardstock rounds. The boom braces have to be cut and formed from bamboo strip stock, and the steps and grabs have to be formed from wire.

It builds up to look like this, and boy howdy, are there a lot of opportunities to bugger it hopelessly.

It is similar when completed to the HO scale Gould/Tichy injection-molded styrene 120-ton Brownhoist railroad crane, widely regarded as one of the best engineered and most complex plastic models ever produced (I have several, and they are spectacular when finished).

Good luck with that crane Bill. I had an Athearn plastic kit version but I ended up selling it unstarted!

This is my Daily, I saved it from the crusher when I bought it Dec. 4th 2019 via Copart salvage auctions.  Fully documented ( minus a few pieces I'm chasing down) 2nd Owner, Rust Free. It is my 1st vehicle I ever owned and don't plan on ever getting rid of it with the exception of passing it on to maybe my nephew?

The first picture is what it looked like when I bought it,

The following picture is what it looks like currently minus I pulled the toolbox out of it yesterday.

  7. Back from my latest hearing test, last one 3 years ago. Some slight deterioration in hearing but the big news is a set of new hearing aids.

These not only sound louder and clearer but are Bluetooth enabled direct to my iPhone. So I can now be one of those odd people talking to themselves as they walk along.

Many thanks to our wonderful NHS and their hard working staff!

My friend's chaton , "Metro" (a placeholder name).

She's was born earlier this year (actual birth date is unknown), and ended up as a stray in the lot of the Los Angeles Transportation repair & service yard (heretofore , "Metro") where my friend picked her up (mum's no where to be found).

    Without further ado...

    Thank you.

The Barracuda is an automatic.  I looked for one for many years.  When one would come up, it was either too rough or the timing was bad. I had actually given up on finding one. It belonged to a friend and I had told him "if you ever want to sell it".  He called 6 years ago and I didn't hesitate. This one is an original California car and it's loaded with everything except A/C.

I have some work on the interior though... The mice had gotten to it and destroyed the headliner and carpet. I pulled everything out and what couldn't be  cleaned was replaced. It's not perfect, but it's really a fun car to drive.

I built a 1/32 Monogram model of it and 3d printed some Rally wheels to match the ones on my car.  The 1/25 AMT version for 1965 is $$$$, so this one is good.

Nice. Best looking Barracuda to my eyes and your paint job is spot on.
