If you're talking about the AMT '50 Ford convertible kit, the reason for the windshield done the way it is in this kit is that there is or was several different roof options when this kit was new. #1 was a stock height convertible windshield and soft top up or down. #2 Was a chopped top convertible with a half top option. #3 This was also offered with a stock height roof and the Victoria Hard Top with no B pillar.

the half top was in later issues. originally it was a full chopped carson top. heres th contents of th first issue

Clearly, camping is a pursuit for those not in a hurry. Not necessarily the same story for those poor saps stuck behind it on narrow country roads...

I got stuck behind what we call a static caravan on the road between wick and thurso in caithness in the scottish highlands. Normally it would have been an easy overtake but the caravan was swaying from side to side a lot so i didn't want to take the chance. When it eventually pulled in i found it was being towed by a mk3 ford fiesta and the rear wheels of the car were off the ground. The scariest part was the dutch registration plates

That's pretty cool.. I live next to a historical farm Museum that has multiple events throughout the year. In the beginning of September the have the steam and small gas engine show. All week long at high noon all the steam whistle blow.. Very cool. I have a 1950 M series John Deere that I just inherited and have no use for so I'll probably look for a buyer at that show..

i think thats the first tractor i've seen with hubcaps still on. on this side of the pond we just didn't use them abd if they were fitted  the farm cats and dogs got a new feed bowl.

  4. I like the icm kits but they do have some very minor flaws. I'm currently working on the opel sedan and I've found some parts are too delicate. for example theres a piece of trim for the body that is near impossible to remove in one piece. it has a connection at each end thats bigger than the part along with an ejection blob in the centre. the part is a piece of body trim and even using a very fine tooth pe saw it just takes it to bite once and the part is destroyed. and the instructions are a bit hazy in places where they really need to be clearer (the cowl fit for example). None of its enough to put me off their kits though and with this being a model a the flaws of the opel shouldn't appear on this due to the way the body fits the fenders (note, most of my build problems have been due to me assembling the body too early). I think we might get a model aa from icm next in probably civilian and first responder versions as it would tie in with the model ts they did.

  5. The wind finally changed direction so i got some paint on. It looks like i need to give some another coat as my first paintjob is showing through. I first painted it metallic brown and butternut yellow and it turned out great, i just hated how it looked and didn't want to do the yellow in gold so i shot the whole thing with duplicolour grey pearl. if the weather plays nice i'll get pagen gold on in the morning.
