Nice looking Harleys. Looks like there is a lot of detail in the kits.
There's quite a bit of detail that comes with the kit. And I inevitably add some personal touches as well.

Interesting. But the few IMEX Harley kits I've built were 1:12 scale. They also made 1:9 scale ones? Bike kits made by Protarwere usually made in 1:9 scale too.
If I am not mistaken, these are the old Protar kits reboxed under the IMEX and TESTORS name.

Very nice work!!!!!

Hey, I was glad to be able to help. Your Harley turned out great! You even "out-fringed" me!
Nice work, Harry.
After seeing some of your work I consider that one of the finest compliments that I could receive.
I have three kits arriving tomorrow. a 1/12 scale IMEX Springer. a Testors 1/9 scale Softail and a 1/10 scale Academy Wide Glide. Got all three for 30 bucks. So I'll be in motorcycle building heaven for a while.....

Nice build Harry!
If you want some really small and very inexpensive LEDs go to eBay and do some searches. The SMD (Surface Mounted Devices) LEDs are extremely small. I most often use size 0603 (which is 0.060" X 0.030" footprint) or 0805 (0.080" X 0.050" footprint). There are smaller LEDs like 0402 (0.040" X 0.020") or larger like 1206 (0.120" X 0.060") and many more sizes. You do have to have some good soldering skills to solder wires to them (I use thin magnet wire) but it is quite doable.
For example if you search eBay for SMD 0805 amber LED (for your directional signals) you will see many of them available for sale (usually from China) with free shipping for really low prices. Something like 50 of them will cost you less that $10.
For example, here is a listing for 50 0805 amber LEDs for less than $6: http://www.ebay.com/itm//111113907642
Thanks for the info. I'll put it to good use on a later build!!!!!

If yours is going to having working lights, that's already a step above what i did!
Only the head and tail light. The LED's that are small enough to go in the turn signal and running lights are just a little too expensive for my wallet at this time. Shoot, I am lucky to afford a model kit about once a month......

Thanks, Harry, I appreciate that coming from you. Yours was the inspiration for this one. But I doubt that this one would be able to compete with it. This is the first large scale I have done in, quite literally, YEARS. I have three more large scale on order that should be arriving sometime next week. So we'll see how the next ones stand up.

Just a little update. I am wiring the Heritage for the head and tail lights to operate. The installation of the LED's and the wiring has been done. The "black" in the headlight is due to the flash that was used. I am hoping to get this working correctly and end up with a good looking, show quality model....

Simply AMAZING work!!!!! You'll get a name for it eventually.....

The Heritage Softail finally arrived. Just started work on it and the detail appears to be of good quality. Very little flash and, so far, not a lot of trimming or sanding has been needed. I am taking a little inspiration from Harry P. here and am changing this one up quite a bit from the out-of-the-box version. Here are a few photos so far.......

Looks good. Will you be doing another one soon? Or are you going to do the detailing to this one?

Harry.......very very cool
Thanks!

Here's another one:
I added the studs on the seat and saddle bags same as on the other two Harleys, added a mud flap and fringe on the seat (just a piece of paper with the fringes cut into it) and painted whitewalls. All the rest is OOB except for the usual paint and foil detailing.
What type of pins did you use for the seat studs?

Just thought I would share a few photos of the Yamaha Virago I finished recently. Hope that you enjoy these.........Comments and criticisms are welcome!!!!!

Greetings everyone!!!...... I am new to this board but not to modeling. I generally build 1/24 scale trucks but have been known to jump into the motorcycle models once in a while. I have been out of the modeling arena for about 20 some years so I am just getting started back up again. I was surprised to see just how much has changed in that time. Things that I only wished for back then have become a reality now. However, I sure wish the model prices were still at THOSE prices....LOL...
I'll post a few photos of my first builds soon and I am always open to comments, both good and bad.....
Thanks for this forum and I hope to be hearing from some of you relatively soon!!!!
