  1. Could you say what paint you used? I wanted to paint a 53 Ford convertible amt kit a nice yellow. Your Phonician yellow model A is darn nice looking.
  2. So are all visitors supposed to report to the main office or to reception? That Ford is super nice looking!
  3. I think Gehard Berger raced for Benetton in 1997 - a guy I know has one of these cars that he races at Road America in vintage events. It has a Judd engine instead of the original, which I think was a Renault. Under two minute laps.
  4. "GT" stands for Grand Touring - a Grand Touring car had to have seats for two and enough luggage space for a grand tour (like an overnight trip). In those cars it would be a fast tour - probably get a speeding ticket or two.
  5. Thanks - I guess the world has changed a whole bunch for me! I'm still in the "go downtown and buy it" era and don't know a thing about social media. Computers and the internet are just a necessary evil to me.
  6. I have a bottle of Testors "Light Ivory Gloss" #1117, and wanted some more. I can't seem to find it anyplace, including on the Testors website. Does anyone know if it is available? Thanks
  7. Thanks for the replys, I guess you guys talked me out of messing with it anymore. I'll have to try the coping saw and thread trick. Jim
  8. Years ago (a lot of years) I had a "auto cutter) from Auto World. It was a soldering iron with a tip that had an exacto blade silver soldered to it. I seem to remember it working real well. I tried to make one recently but it doesn't get hot enough to really do a good job. I tried it on a 40 watt iron, then tried a 45 watt iron - no particular difference. Does anyone remember these or maybe still have one? I was wondering what wattage he used.
  9. I didn't know Christine had a good looking sister!
  10. That is absolutly beautiful! The only trouble with that model is it makes me want to throw rocks at all mine!
  11. The AMT 49 Merc kit I'm working on has a chrome crank and some pistons in it. It doesn't seem to be a 8 cylinder crank though!
  12. IRS is not a good subject this time of year.
  13. I just bought the AMT 49 Merc, was planning on making a real nice stock out of it but your idea is even better. That model is great!!!
  14. I see what you mean, they must stack together and come out right somehow.
  15. I bought a AMT 49 Merc. kit cause I haven't found a woodie kit yet. Gee, that kit has some real modern accesories in it - a telephone, tape player, and tv set - wow! Southpier - those fan belts in that picture of the resin V8 don't seem right do they? It needs to drive the generator, the fan, and two water pumps - I think the fan should be 4 bladed too.
  16. Thanks, I guess I should have searched for it, there's plenty of info there. I would want to put a flathead V8 in it for sure.
  17. I noticed this kit in browsing, it sure looks good to me. Has anyone built it - did you like it? Are those decals for the wood sides and if so do they look ok? Thanks
  18. Just joined this forum, I built a lot of AMT kits when I was a kid in the early to mid '60s and just started to become interested in them again. I bought a Monogram 59 Chevy convertable kit at a swap meet - that was a nicer kit than anything I remembered from back then! The Moebius kits look pretty interesting to me, but I haven't bought one yet. Building model cars is a nice thing to do during a long cold winter! Jim S.
