1957 Ford Engine Color
Anderson_15_ replied to Jim B's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've been looking around online to try to find the perfect combination of the 1953 Hudson Hornets stock colours of "honey cream" and "ebony black". I came across yours and thought that would be perfect. Only problem is I can't figure out what the stock interior for that colour combination is. Wondering if you might have any pictures of the interior that I could copy. (Don't want to steal your idea but just want a very classy stock build). I read that a relative of yours owned one and it came as you built it. If you could post the interior that would be very helpful. Thanks -
Thanks for all the comments everyone. And yes I know what you mean Tulio! It was almost impossible with the engine pulley in the way! And didn't have any spare mirrors laying around so gotta find something

Ya i know i left out a lot of BMF. just didn't want to ruin it. wasn't sure i could pull it off so I played it safe. Monty 1) I included some pictures to help explain. There are two pins that go into holes on the suspension. rather then gluing them together, I left out the glue so now i can move them around. (individually of coarse) 2) I couldn't figure out how I wanted to paint it so I decided to bring the interior color into the engine bay by painting it white to match the mirrors were molded terribly together and broke when i tried to take them off the tree. plus the mirror faces were half chrome half white plastic and just plain crappy. And I have Chrissifer Lew to thank for painting tips

Just finished this '62 Thunderbird. Used Tamiya's Light Pearl under Tamiya's Pearl Clear. The base coat is just Krylon paint and primer Flat White. With lack of glue I made adjustable steering wheels as well. This is probably my best build so far so here's a bunch of pictures to show it off.

Need Help with some Rims
Anderson_15_ replied to Mooneyzs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is extremely late now but if u still pay attention to this post I know what kit has those exactly. The AMT Ford thunderbird 1962 kit has them. The tires r a small white wall so sanding to fitment might have to take place. I'm not even sure that kit existed when this was posted though. Just thought I'd let u know if u haven't found out about it yet -
I have a quick question for you, my next model will be the first one that I do with an opening trunk. I watched your hinging tutorial and I'll definitely be following it. But my paint job is going to be really thick so I wanted to know how well they will fit together. Do I need to sand the sides a bunch? Or will it fit without any modifications. Just thought I'd see what you have to say before I screw it up and have to reprint. Thanks

This is a forum for anyone to post their trailers they've built from scratch. All styrene. No kits or anything with instructions! Just plan old styrene put together. Anything is accepted. Campers, car haulers, semi trailers, boat trailers, horse trailers, anything! I'll start with mine

I just finished painting my 1962 Thunderbird with Tamiya TS-58 Pearl light blue. The clear I'm using is Tamiya Pearl Clear. on my previous model I laid down my clear heavy coat and it didn't turn out so good. The clear coat was heavy enough that it turned a white color before drying. Is this good or bad? Not sure if I want this to happen or not. So thanks for anyone's input.

You should build an extremely large diorama of a drive in theater and feature some of your cars there. I really want to but have no space for one.

The wheels that are on the 1960 Buick are Modelhaus '57 Buick Borrani wire wheels, with the center caps detailed, mounted on Satco Firestone Deluxe Champion wide whites, which are also available from The Modelhaus . Iironically, I was in the process of painting this model when I received the news of Dad's death. Finishing it was very therapeutic, and I intend to never let this one go. well you did and amazing job with it. And i just bought a 1962 Thunderbird from AMT which comes with a set of wire wheels and sombrero wheels, so I'll use those. But thanks for he info -
I just purchased the Tamiya spray can, light blue pearl TS-58. I've never painted with pearls and need some help with primers. I'm using the Tamiya pearl clear coat over it too. If anyone could help me get a good primer it would be very helpful. Last thing, although I like the color, I would prefer it a bit darker. If there's a primer color that could help with that is like to know what it is. Thanks

hey, I was looking at some ideas of rims to put on the car i'm building and came across your 1960 Buick Invicta. Turns out your car is almost identical to the one i'm building (1962 Buick Electra). black with a red interior and convertible. But I was wondering what rims and tires you used on yours. They are exactly what i'm looking for. If you could help me out i'd appreciate it.Thanks -

Ok thought so. but check this out if you haven't yet. It's a forum for painting white walls and the result is extremely impressive http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86149&hl=%2Bpainting+%2Bwide+%2Bwhite+%2Bwalls A lot cheaper then 10 bucks a set. more time consuming but worth it

Painting wide white walls (old trick)

really good way. I use these on everything so I hate buying them and decals suck. I have one question though, what is the paint to thinner ratio. Model masters acrylic says they are already airbrush ready but everyone else says they arnt. Just wanted to know what you use. plus I dont want it to thin and then itruns -

The 1950 Chevy I did awhile back. Swapped V8 engine, lowered leaf springs, after market tires. I did something different with the bed. I painted it wood and used BMF for the rails and it looks pretty real. Can't remember what I used for paint. -

RAT-T I used the spray can tamiya TS-21 Gold. I don't remember using any clear though. And I used a medium gray tamiya primer.
