Hello all, Are there any good model shops in New York? My mother is going there next week and I want her to pick up a few bits and pieces for me. I would like to know where they are in the main areas of new york as i dont want to send her to some dodgy part of the city. So if anyone can help me out it would be appreciated. I am looking to get one of these http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=74520 and one of these http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=74522. Great looking build. Are you going to paint it in the official Ford colours?

Thanks Enzoenvy I picked up a Challenge from ebay so i am awaiting it at the minute. I also just ordered the PE kit from stradasports so once i get them i will be able to start then. I would like to paint it in silverstone silver so i will have to find a paint thats similar. I will definately look back on this thread for inspiration

That is fantastic. I remember seeing this in its early stages a couple of months ago. There is a crazy amount of detail in that model. -

Airbrushing

Thanks for the tips Dan. What would happen if I used different brands of paint and clear cote? I have Humbrol paints and Microscale Industries Micro Gloss. I have never used the clear gloss before so I am not sure what its like. -

Thanks for the heads up Chris. I didnt know about putting my name in the sig so cheers. White spirits is also called methalated spirits (I think) and its used for cleaning gloss paint from proper paint brushes. Ill try it without any watering down as its already quite thin and see what happens. -

Would thinning them down with white spirits or water not do the same job? Im using Humbrol paints. Thanks -
Hi guys i am doing a build an have never used an airbrush before. Do you have to thin down the paints and if so by how much and what with. I have acrylic and enamel paints. Thanks

I found this on another website when I was looking for images and thought it was cool so I'm posting it here

Thanks very much for the replies guys. I have had a look around that kit form services site and i have been impressed with amount of small detail work that is available but i would like to "try" and make some of my own stuff. As for the italeri packs i dont feel i need all of the stuff in them so i think i will give them a miss. Is there any good tutorials or detailed descriptions of how people have added extra detail to their models? Thanks -
Hi there i am from Europe and i am about to start building a new scania truck. I am looking for some tips on ways to make extra light bars and exhausts that dont come with the kit. I would also like to put some checkerplate on the back as well if it is easily made. Here is the model I will be building from and attached are some pictures of the lights and exhausts i would like to replicate Thanks in advance and i really like the site
