Stephen, Hobby Link Japan may be the place to get these from.
I have them both, and love 'em!
htttp://www.hlj.com
I have a dealer directory link on the main site: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/Dealers.pdf
I will update it in the next few weeks.
Thanks gregg but I was thinking of buying it straight from a shop in New York. I think Ill wait a while and see what they can find when they are in NYC.

Hello all,
Are there any good model shops in New York?
My mother is going there next week and I want her to pick up a few bits and pieces for me. I would like to know where they are in the main areas of new york as i dont want to send her to some dodgy part of the city.
So if anyone can help me out it would be appreciated.
I am looking to get one of these
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=74520
and one of these
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=74522.
P.S if this is in the wrong place can the mods please move to the appropriate place.
Thanks

It will be this version minus the Night Stage lights. It looks allot cleaner without the extra lights.
Yeah that will definately look nice when its done.

very nice and clean build as always
Great looking build. Are you going to paint it in the official Ford colours?
-
I am strictly a Tamiya builder, but I can honestly say that the Fujimi was a nice build. Make sure that the one you get a hold of is a Challenge. If you have that, then here is where I got the PE set for it. Awesome set and well worth the money!

Thanks Enzoenvy
I picked up a Challenge from ebay so i am awaiting it at the minute. I also just ordered the PE kit from stradasports so once i get them i will be able to start then. I would like to paint it in silverstone silver so i will have to find a paint thats similar.
I will definately look back on this thread for inspiration

Sorry for posting again straight after myself but I have found the kit for the F430 but not the photoetch kit. Can you point in the right direction as to where you got yours?
Thanks a million

Fantastic looking car. id love to be able to build models like that.
BTW whats the fujimi kit like to build? I have only ever used italeri and Airfix kits before. Would be really interested in doing an F430
-
That is fantastic amount of detail. It looks great.
I have to check out the F430 you did.
Keep up the good work
-
Excellent looking kit. There looks to be a lot of detail in it.
-
That is fantastic. I remember seeing this in its early stages a couple of months ago. There is a crazy amount of detail in that model.

Looking good once again

If you want to add some shine to acrylic, mix 50% paint, 30% alcohol and 20% clear for your last color coat but make sure the paint and the clear are from the same brand. The body in the picture shows Tamiya paint using the 50-30-20 method with only 1 coat of color
Hope this helps
Dan
Thanks for the tips Dan. What would happen if I used different brands of paint and clear cote?
I have Humbrol paints and Microscale Industries Micro Gloss. I have never used the clear gloss before so I am not sure what its like.

BFassasin--First off, before the Jarius police come after you you'll want to put your real name in your signature. You can find out how to do this via the Everyone read post by Jarius.
Do not use water to thin your acrylic paints. If I'm not mistaken the Humbrol brand of paint is acrylic. If you have to, I would use some Isopropyl alcohol. That's basically all it is with some other conditioners involved. Water only in extreme cases, but I don't think it would work well.
I'm not sure what white spirits are, but if it is like lacquer thiner, then no, not for acrylics. Most enamels or lacquer paints.
Chris
Thanks for the heads up Chris.
I didnt know about putting my name in the sig so cheers.
White spirits is also called methalated spirits (I think) and its used for cleaning gloss paint from proper paint brushes.
Ill try it without any watering down as its already quite thin and see what happens.
-
Yeah it would scare the living daylights out of you. It works surprisingly well though.
-
Wow that is amazing work. Keep it up
-
Unless they are already pre-thinned for airbrush use then no(unless more thinning is needed).
You should thin the paints down to about 2% milk consistency, using the same paint brands thinner for that application.
If it is Testor's that you are using they do make thinners of their own for their Acrylic and Enamel line.
With their enamels I use their black can thinner for thinning when using the airbrush.
Chris
Would thinning them down with white spirits or water not do the same job?
Im using Humbrol paints.
Thanks
-
Hi guys i am doing a build an have never used an airbrush before. Do you have to thin down the paints and if so by how much and what with.
I have acrylic and enamel paints.
Thanks

I found this on another website when I was looking for images and thought it was cool so I'm posting it here

Looks great. I made that kit before but i basically just made it to the instructions so it doesnt look as good as yours.

As far as the light bar, depending on what you have in the parts box, I would find lights that would do the job and those can be found in car kit, especially old hot rods or ask here on the forum and someone might have some for you.Once you find the lights you can make the frame with some 1/16" diameter solder. you roll a piece of it between two pieces of wood to make it straight, polish it with some toothpaste to give it some shine, roll it again, and then with small needelnose pliers you bend your frame to the shape you need. CA glue loves solder so gluing it to the truck is pretty easy. If you think that solder might be too soft, you get the flux core solder and run a piece of crafters wire thru the center if it (where the flux is) all you have to do to push the wire in is run it over a candle (just the wire, not the solder)and it does'nt take a lot of heat to melt the flux.
Hope this helps

Thats a nice tip. Ill have to have a look at the solder i have but i dont think it has he flux in the centre like you described. Ill give it a try though

Parts pack also had the light bar some other good items....
Thanks very much for the replies guys. I have had a look around that kit form services site and i have been impressed with amount of small detail work that is available but i would like to "try" and make some of my own stuff. As for the italeri packs i dont feel i need all of the stuff in them so i think i will give them a miss.
Is there any good tutorials or detailed descriptions of how people have added extra detail to their models?
Thanks

Hi there i am from Europe and i am about to start building a new scania truck. I am looking for some tips on ways to make extra light bars and exhausts that dont come with the kit. I would also like to put some checkerplate on the back as well if it is easily made.
Here is the model I will be building from
and attached are some pictures of the lights and exhausts i would like to replicate
Thanks in advance and i really like the site
