  1. started another model today with my daughter. she picked out the revell 59 Cadillac elderado and decided to paint it "daddys car" green. shes 7 and this will be her 2nd go at a model. she tells me what she needs and finds it in the box, i cut it out of the plastic and clean the extra extrusions off. she then decodes the color and has me open that color. the deal is she dictates, i cut, she paints, i glue. so far on day one, heres where we are.... i am truely not happy with the quality of the testors spray paint. i dont have access to an air brush, but ill never use that junk again. ill stick to rustolium.
  2. i like the rims, but i would suggest stripping the chrome and do maybe a black set of steelies. depending on your body color of course.
  3. one of them has only 2/10ths of a mile on it, so that proves your point!
  4. i couldnt get the headers right for the life of me, so i improvised.
  5. not sure on your modification desire level, but a little medical tape cut in 4ths adds a dimension to those headers, assuming you like the heat wrapped look. assuming your working on the chip foose camaro, heres where im at so far, as i am building the same one.
  6. big boy section you say? ill have to take a gander
  7. Got a 1/12 camaro for Christmas and I started it shortly after. I've never done a big 1/12 model, but I quite enjoy being able to detail it so much easier. This is my first attempt at wrapping headers, I used medical tape quartered and wrapped it the old fashion way. I've learned I hate plug wires Details are much nicer, but its missing a lot of 1:1 details like wires, hoses, brake lines and the such. Over all its a nice kit with stock and aftermarket engine and wheel options. It comes with 3 rim options including stock, goose, and almost krager options. It's basically a big version of the street machine 1/25 kit. I would build another one but I couldn't see paying what they want for it. I'll update as go, I plan to do a fabric headliner in this has a large clam she'll as the rear and side glass.
  8. anyone have a link to someone that makes the resin parts im looking for, or has a set for sale? apparently according to the local model shop these are unicorn parts, no one makes them anymore.
  9. engine and dash i can deal with, but the hood, tailgate and grille are too different to put on there. i cant find the parts anywhere on the net.
  10. those would be perfect. ill have to keep scouring the web i guess. i dont want the hub caps shown on the 1:1, i need the rims in the stand alone picture
  11. my grandfather asked me to build him a model of his truck AND sourced me a kit to build it. my question is.... is there anywhere i can get the GMC panels to make this chevy into a GMC? the badges are different, as is the Grille, radiator, front cross member, tail gate, gauges, and engine. obviously i can make the truck look like grandpas, but i would like to be exact. i need to source the military rims too. this style rim sorry for the long post, just want to show you guys what im dealing with, lol
  12. still got some accessories to mock and build. but its coming into view. the wife cried a little when she saw the detail i put into this.
  13. let me say again, i hate flat paint. the "ol' jim" is for papa jim, and he was a case fanatic. sorry about the terrible pictures, the only camera i own is attached to my phone.
  14. heres the one im working on now, for those asking for more. these are the only models ive ever done, i like restoring things, so this isnt too far off. just smaller.
  15. the wife decided to go with a resto-mod theme. like she said to me, it is a tribute, and we should build it how grandpa would have if he had the extra cash. i dont know what happened on the fender there, but i hate working with flat paint. so far shes happy with it, with the hood on it, you can see grampas truck for sure.
  16. lol, good to hear and thank you for the kind words!
  17. hey guys. im actually building this one for the wife, her grandfather had a ford "AA" all her life. he passed away a couple years ago, and she finally talked me into building this one. i couldnt find a kit of an AA, so i decided a tribute build would have to suffice. this is the truck im trying to replicate with any hopes. im using a lindberg 1934 ford pickup kit to build it. heres what we got for a starter... as you can see, ive only just begun to shave the flashing and pick parts, but the body is very similar if not the same. the bed is longer in the real truck, and the running gear is larger as it is a 2 ton truck. thats why its a tribute instead of a true model.
  18. sorry for the double post...
  19. this kit started off as a Revell Peterbilt 359 continental set. ive got a good part of two weeks after work on this. all details are painted with toothpicks. i don't have the fancy set-ups most of you guys have, but i enjoy the concentration and planning this hobby takes. tell me what you guys think, and i can always use pointers! thanks all!
