  1. I LOVE this! Very nice build... complete with the MUFDVR license plate.
  2. Thank you very much for that. I would have driven me crazy trying to find it again.
  3. The paint with this one is where I had the most worry. It had taken me several weeks to figure out what I was going to do with the flames. Lazy Modeler has a set for the Lonestar kit that was pretty close, but I've replicated the flames directly from movie shots, in MS Paint. I have a vinyl cutter and will use that to mask. The only thing I'm not decided on yet is if I'll put the pin striping on the flames. I'm not sure I have a steady enough hand for that. With the engine I'm going to make it dressed up rather than a stock worn look.
  4. This one that's in the picture is the Asia Exclusive with jet pack. I also picked up the trailer that turns into the weapons holder from the 3rd movie. I also have a 3rd party Jet Power add on that is a recreation of the combined Optimus from the second movie. I'm going with a lower sleeper. When I was researching this a few months ago, I had seen someone made a low top for this kit. Now I just have to remember where I saw it! lol
  5. This is the preliminary post for my newest, most ambitious model in my 30 years of building as I have an abundance of free time after spinal surgery. I am building a replica Optimus Prime Peterbilt 379x and trailer from the movie series. I'll be starting with the Italeri 379 long hauler and Mobeius 53ft trailer. It will be painted using custom flame masking that I am having made. Will be LED lit and have several turned aluminum parts I will be making at my shop. I may take a few liberties with a change here or there. I would like to put super singles on the rear, maybe custom stacks too. I'll be starting with the engine tomorrow. Here is the toy version.
  6. Right now I am undertaking my biggest model build in my 30 years of experience. I am building a scale replica of the movie Optimus Prime and his trailer. The biggest issue I for see with this build is the flame paint job. While I've tried to search for flame masking, I'm not having much luck finding anything current. The search of this board has yielded some results but from years ago. So as the title states what is the current status of flame masking? I hate to ask as usually I'm fairly good at finding things on my own, but I've come to a dead end. Thank you in advance.
  7. Thank you all so much for the well wishes and the warm welcome. I'm so very anxious to get so many projects started
  8. I've been building on and off for the better part of 30 years now. I had taken a couple years off as a new job has me working like a dog. But recently I've gotten back into the hobby because I've had spinal surgery and have a ton of free time. Primarily I build newer kits with the occasional vintage. Right now I'm researching tips and tricks for building a movie replica Optimus Prime 379x and trailer. This forum is by far the most informative and lively. I look forward to posting pictures of the build and talking about some of the wonderful builds everyone has.
  9. I've always liked the look of the T600. One of our local dirt trackers had a T600 based motorhome as a hauler, very nice. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on this build. Great work so far.
