  1. Fairly new to building models. Finished one where I used spray paint cans. Talk about ©®@*! I need an actual spray gun where I can change settings etc etc and do nice paint jobs on my near future projects. There are so many freakn kits out there, I have no idea which one I should get. If there are any $400-$500 kits, I do not have nor would I want to spend that kind of money. At the same time I don't want a $99 kit as I assume they're cheap and not all that great. I'm thinking of a price range between $150-$225....? Am I on a good track? Would that get me something pretty good? What would you guys suggest for me? I thank you kindly for your time!!!!
  2. Thanks for the compliments signguy2108! I wouldn't be to quick to get any ideas from me buddy. I'm pretty new to this and have never scratched built any fenders nor have I gotten any suggestions on how to. I'm just doing what I think is the right way about doing it and crossing my fingers and hoping for the best lol. I'll be sure to do an update as soon as I can. Thanks again for your compliments!!!
  3. Thanks Mopar! Don't speak to soon on the fenders lol. Never attempted to make anything like em not sure how they're going to turn out. Just finished gluing the sides. Not looking all that great however I'm hoping with some tamiya putty and alot of sanding they'll turn out okay... I'll do an update in a day or two.... maybe three. Thanks again for your compliment!
  4. Lol thanks for the compliment Chuck Most! Goliath... mmmmm.... now that sounds like an interesting build to do lol... nice.... I'm a big fan of cabovers! I haven't seen that show in forever but I certainly remember that truck! Overall I suppose I'm okay with what I did on my 352. Lot of imperfections horrible paint job but I guess for it being my very first model I've ever built I can't complain to much. Some of the work you guys do is just absolutely unbelievable! I guess after several years of practice I'll be able to do much better! I am happy with the color green I chose. Kinda like the old school army green. Of course the black looks much better than chrome would have. Which I'm not a big fan of chrome however I'm sure I'll be using plenty of it on future projects. Thanks again for the compliment!
  5. Thanks Gator! So far it's working out.... Yeah I didn't get around to checking out all their products however I did look at the 2" table saw, and wow, Very Nice! I will definitely be ordering one of those! My next project I will be attempting to scratch build a trailer and I quite certain that will come in handy! I was able to make straight cuts on my scroll saw by clamping down that metal ruler however quite a pain in the you know what trying to get the perfect measurement and then I had to go real slow etc. But yeah I'm thinking that table saw will make a big difference for straight cuts.... I actually tried looking for a miniature table saw but wasn't able to find one. So I was going to custom build one making it so I could attach my dremel tool. Glad to know I don't have to go through that trouble now lol...
  6. Gonna be several more days before I make any more progress. Assuming all will go well. But just to get somewhat of an idea of what it's going to look like.......
  7. Going to attempt to build my own fenders for the first time. The fenders on the first model I did cabover are custom resin fenders I purchased off of a website.....
  8. Thanks Kilrathy10! I appreciate the compliment! Yeah I knew that hinge was not going to be sturdy enough by it self but with those bolts washers and those pieces of pipe it certainly made a huge difference! I wouldn't have bothered doing it like that but I wanted to make my workbench as compact as possible....
  9. Thanks Gator. I sure hope it will! I'm going to have to look into that table saw you're talking about!
  10. Finally got my new workbench built! Ready to get back to working on my project(s). Well after I get a new bar stool.....
  11. Thanks Ramfins59! It's becoming more addictive than cigarettes...
  12. Just got a new toy in the mail for my new work bench. Hope it will serve me well with my near future projects!
  13. Thanks guys! And lol yeah when I started doing plastic models it became addicting quick! Now that I have a decent work bench I'll definitely be glued to it!
  14. Definitely looking forward to seeing the finishing touches! Very Nice buddy
  15. Put my model project to a halt when I came to realize I could probably do a much better job working on my model if I had an actual workbench to work on and not my recliner. So I started building myself a workbench. Still under construction......
  16. Thanks Ben! Doing very little by little. Going to be a while before I have it complete.
  17. Thank you for your compliment! Looks like a very interesting build anarximis! I got say, I'm a big fan of cabovers! Will definitely follow your build and will look forward to seeing the finished project! By the way, did you order those custom stacks and if so from where if I may ask...
  18. Thanks kilrathy10! Males me feel good to hear you say that! And I'm sure I will have quite a few questions soon enough. And Modelbuilder Mark and tbill I greatly appreciate yalls comments as well!! Merry Christmas to all of my fellow modelers and a Happy New Year. As you are already aware, these models take alot of time but I'll be sure to do an update along with questions
  19. Thanks for the compliment. Yeah it's Great! I've always had a thing for custom big rigs. Being able to to bring one to life at my specifications is amazing! I believe I will attempt to build a lowboy trailer from scratch for my second Pete.
  20. The cabover Pete is the first model I've ever built in my life. It's the AMT Peterbilt model 352 kit. Stretched the frame custom deck plate custom grill custom bumper slightly lowered the suspension etc etc. I definitely got hooked right away! Couldn't wait to start on my second! And as you can see I started customizing the Italeri Peterbilt model 378 1:24 scale. Ignore the stacks you see in the photo. They're just there to get an idea of what it's going to look like. That goes for the deck plate as well. I lowered the suspension as much as possible without having to reduce any pieces. Lowered the fuel tanks. Added an extension on the bottom of the cab as well as the sleeper oh and also the front fenders. Stretched frame. Custom made the visors bumper grill and headlights. As well as the mirrors and cb antennas. Etc etc. Much much more work still needs to be done. Everything I've done so far I've learned on my own. Haven't watched any youtube videos or anything like that. I'm sure I will however when I eventually begin my third project (secret). Well thanks for looking sorry not so many pics..... I'll be back....
